If you’re into skiing, snowboarding or other winter activities, El Paso doesn’t offer much. Just a couple of hours away though, different story – here’s when they expect snow.<\/p>\n

When it comes to snow in El Paso, if we get any at all, it’s not much and it doesn’t stick around long. If it “sticks” at all. No ski runs or tubing hills for us but less than 200 miles from here, you’re in business.<\/p>\n

Mother Nature loves to mess with weather forecasters. Especially in west Texas when you can sometimes experience all 4 seasons in one. She does kind of hold an average though and based on that, here’s when the snow should start flying nearby.<\/p>\n

When Will New Mexico See Snow?<\/p>\n

According to weather.gov<\/a>, here’s when our nearest New Mexico neighbors will be shoveling snow.<\/p>\n

Ruidoso – November 25thCloudcroft – Not listed but close enough to Ruidoso to assume 11\/25 for them too.Silver City – December 6thWhat If I Want Snow But No Special Activities?<\/p>\n

If you want snow but don’t care about skiing, snowboarding, tubing, etc; these places are very close:<\/p>\n

Elephant Butte – December 21stCarlsbad – December 27thDeming – January 2ndLordsburg – December 17thAlamogordo – December 13th<\/p>\n

What About El Paso\/Las Cruces?<\/p>\n

You can forget about skiing and snowboarding, (although, my friends and I did once go “ice” skiing by holding on to the tailgate of a moving pickup on an icy road), but you may be able to slap together a snowball fight in Las Cruces on\u00a0December 27th<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All I could find for El Paso was “late December” … probably the same day Cruces gets theirs … but the earliest and latest snowfalls<\/a>\u00a0ever recorded here were October 28th, 1980 and April 17th, 1901.<\/p>\n

Snow is a beautiful sight to behold, but in Dallas, TX and most of the Lone Star State, there’s just not much we can do when we get it and plus it’s usually such a little bit of snowfall anyway.<\/p>\n

Pictures From The Great Winter Texas Snowstorm of 2021<\/p>\n

Where were you when Winter Storm Uri hit Texas the week of February 14th and 15th 2021?<\/p>\n

The country was already dealing with the COVID crisis and then came another one.<\/p>\n

Texas Cities like Abilene and San Angelo had record snowfall. Beating records that were made back in the late 1800s.<\/p>\n

In Austin a record 6.4 inches of snow was recorded at Austin – Bergstrom Airport, their heaviest snow in 72 years, since Jan. 30, 1949.<\/p>\n

San Antonio had almost 3 inches of snow bringing them their heaviest snowfall since 1985, those nice people art Seaworld also saw 6 inches of snowfall. <\/p>\n

It was a disaster! <\/p>\n

But here we are a year later, we now have stories we can tell our grandkids about how the effects of Winer Storm Uri of 2021 had us all in a frenzy. <\/p>\n
