Amy and Mike Campbell were happily ensconced in Coppell. One day, Amy was out tooling around with a Realtor pal, and they saw a terrific Midcentury Modern home. It was not for sale, but hey, why not knock on the door and find out more? Fortunately, the owner, Luis Carrasco, his wife, and their brand new triplets were very friendly. It turned out that Carrasco owns Arbors and Patios and did all the work himself. Amy took note and kept his number.<\/p>\n

Seven years later, she was living in Plano and called Carrasco to see if he could modify her home and give it a Midcentury look. He advised her that the bones of the house did not lend themselves to that sort of modification and suggested she simply find a Midcentury home. Then he did something unexpected. He offered to help.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe pulls up the Zillow map and tells me this house has the right bones,\u201d she said. So, off she and her husband went to have a look, because, why not?<\/p>\n

Once they entered the house and laid eyes on the fabulous floating copper fireplace, they were sold. The Lake Highlands Midcentury Modern had only one previous owner and was in probate, which would deter some buyers, but not the Campbells. They purchased it from the owner\u2019s nephew, who revealed his aunt was personally acquainted with Frank Lloyd Wright!<\/p>\n

The Campbells hired Structured Foundation Repairs first, then had Carrasco work his magic.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had an image in my head, and Luis captured it,\u201d Amy said. \u201cHe had all the subs and a phenomenal cabinet maker.\u00a0He helped with the vision and showed us what was possible.\u201d

When it came to furnishing this Lake Highlands Midcentury Modern, Amy relied on Room and Board, which has an excellent selection of Midcentury styles. The fireplace was retrofitted for gas, and she found the vertical logs to stack in campfire style.

The 1961 Lake Highlands Midcentury is not only filled with character and marvelously updated, but it\u2019s also in the middle of one of our most sought-after neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe never thought about moving initially,\u201d Amy said. \u201cA Realtor came by and said she had someone interested in our home.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Campbells had spent a year building their perfect nest. However, knowing there was interest in the home and Mike would be retiring, they realized they would rather make a final move sooner rather than later.

Another friend recommended speaking with her favorite agent, eXp Realty\u2019s Volha Kuzmiankova.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe is a ball of energy,\u201d Amy said. \u201cWe told her that we were talking to different agents, and she said that\u2019s fine, but she came in with a full marketing plan, and it was a clear choice. She is a joy to work with. We listed it on Friday and had an open house on Saturday and Sunday, and had an offer by Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Campbells are now off to find another great home in North Carolina!<\/p>\n

The lesson here is that if you want Midcentury style<\/a>, which has never been hotter, let your agent know so they can scout in advance, because once they list, they are often gone in a few days.<\/p>\n
