Now the picture is clear: LCU and Angelo State finished tied atop the standings as LSC co-champions, with ASU earning hosting duties for the 2025 Lone Star Conference Championships. The Lady Chaps enter the eight-team, single-elimination bracket as the No. 2 seed and will open quarterfinal play Thursday at 1:30 p.m. against No. 7 seed Oklahoma Christian.

Lubbock Christian (23-6 overall) put together one of the most complete conference seasons in program history, rolling to a 15–2 Lone Star Conference mark and earning a share of the regular-season championship. The Lady Chaps opened league play with immediate momentum, sweeping Sul Ross State and following with a five-set win over Western New Mexico to start 2–0 at home. Their first major statement came on the road, where they swept through a four-match trip with wins at St. Mary’s, St. Edward’s, Eastern New Mexico and UT Tyler, dropping only two sets across the stretch.

LCU’s balance showed throughout October, taking care of Cameron, Oklahoma Christian, UT Dallas, Texas A&M International and Texas A&M–Kingsville to surge to 11–0 in conference. Their first stumble came in a five-set battle at West Texas A&M, but the Lady Chaps rebounded with a clutch home week, outlasting Texas Woman’s in five and defeating Dallas Baptist and UT Permian Basin.

The regular season closed with a split—an unexpected sweep loss to co-champion Angelo State, followed by a dramatic 3–2 victory over Midwestern State on Senior Night to clinch a share of the title. LCU’s 15 conference wins are a program single-season record and the conference regular season title was their 14th overall in program history and their first in the LSC.

The Lady Chaps are in the quarterfinals of the LSC Championships second consecutive season and are making their fourth LSC Championships appearance (seventh season in the LSC) and are 1-3 all-time in the championships. Last season, LCU went to Canyon, Texas as the No.8-seed and lost to No.1-seed and host No.5 West Texas A&M. LCU is making their second trip to San Angelo for a conference championship tournament, as they made the trip to the Concho Valley in 2021 in head coach Keith Giboney‘s first season at LCU. That season, the No.3-seeded Lady Chaps defeated No.6-seed Dallas Baptist, but fell to No.10-seed St. Edward’s. The 2021 tournament was the final 12-team event (it has been an eight-team event since).

Oklahoma Christian put together one of its most successful seasons in program history, finishing 19–9 overall and 11–6 in the Lone Star Conference while entering the postseason on a three-match win streak. The Eagles opened the year 6–0 and built a strong résumé with consistent play at home, on the road, and at neutral sites. Their breakthrough moment came in the regular-season finale, when they stunned No. 13 West Texas A&M for the program’s second-ever win over a top-25 opponent and first in school history against the Lady Buffs. Chloe Jones delivered a historic 22-kill, 27-dig performance in the upset, while OC’s 12 blocks highlighted one of its best defensive efforts of the year. The Eagles’ late surge lifted them to seventh in the LSC standings. They are making their fourth LSC Championship appearance (all since their program reinstatement in 2020). Last season they were the No.7 seed and fell 3-0 to No.2-seed Angelo State to go to 1-3 all-time in the tournament.

LCU is 9–1 all-time against Oklahoma Christian, winning the first seven matchups in the series before taking their first loss last season—a 3–0 setback on Nov. 8, 2024, in Lubbock. The Lady Chaps captured the first 14 sets ever played between the programs, and five of the last seven meetings have taken place in Lubbock. Thursday’s matchup marks both the first neutral-site meeting and the first postseason meeting in a series that dates back to 1979.

Lubbock Christian swept the 2025 regular season series from Oklahoma Christian, winning both a non-conference meeting in September (Sept. 20) and the Lone Star Conference matchup in October (Oct. 11).
