Together, they train, travel and sweat alongside the players, sharing the same grind — except maybe running routes.

“We want them to see beyond the badge,” said Allen Chief Steve Dye.

“They’re here to support Allen. We’re here to support them,” said Allen high schooler Jacobie Wilkerson.

The officers are more than mentors; they’re teammates. In the weight room, they push limits together — and push each other to grow.

“They just keep pushing the bar. They make me wanna be better,” Cambiano said.

The program’s goal is simple but powerful: build trust and connection between youth and law enforcement through shared experience.

Graves has been in law enforcement for 19 years. He works in APD’s community relations and the drone program. Cambiano has been a detective with APD for eight years.

“Some of these young men did not grow up seeing police officers as heroes,” said Dye.

“We hope a relationship develops where conversations can be had between our officers and our athletes that might not happen otherwise,” said Allen High School Football Coach Lee Wiginton.

Graves said he sees the effort as long-term recruiting — not just for the police force, but for life.

“We may be in here lifting weights with future cops,” he said.

For many players, it’s their first chance to see officers as fathers, mentors, and neighbors.

“I want these kids to know that I’m a dad. I have a 13-year-old and a 9-year-old I’m raising,” said Graves.

As Allen High School eyes another state championship, the Blue Eagle Program is chasing a different kind of victory — one that can’t be measured on a scoreboard.

“It’s a win-win,” said the Allen coach.

The hope here in Allen is that the preparation shapes more than athletes — it shapes people.

Allen ISD and PD’s Blue Eagle Program embeds police with the football team to foster trust and connections…

[15
160,162,161
0":"post-53857","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-plano","8":"tag-plano","9":"tag-plano-headlines","10":"tag-plano-news
["GET
