Officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office provide an update on an incident at a McDonald’s that ended with a man reportedly shooting himself. PINEHURST, Texas – An investigation is underway after a man who barricaded himself in a bathroom at a Montgomery County McDonald’s shot himself on Monday, authorities say.<\/p>\n

Shooting investigation at McDonald’s <\/p>\n

The scene unfolded at the McDonald\u2019s located at 32323 SH-249 near Decker Prairie Road, south of Pinehurst, around 11 a.m. Monday, but the incident began earlier in the day.<\/p>\n

Earlier that morning, the Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office says they were called to a Magnolia cemetery for a welfare check on a man who was threatening suicide. Police say he fled into Harris County as MCSO deputies tried to detain him.<\/p>\n

Around 11 a.m., they located the man at the McDonald\u2019s restaurant. Deputies responded to the scene.<\/p>\n

MCSO says the man barricaded himself in a bathroom and ultimately ended up shooting himself one time. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.<\/p>\n

The sheriff\u2019s office says the Montgomery County District Attorney\u2019s Office had previously accepted charges against the man for an incident earlier in the morning, including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family Violence) and Evading Arrest in a Vehicle.<\/p>\n

The incident is under investigation by several agencies, including the Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the Texas Rangers, the Montgomery County District Attorney\u2019s Office, and the Harris County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
