Two dominant signal callers in Connor Klostermann<\/a> and Jace Wheeler<\/a> are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Calallen Wildcats<\/a> will face off against the Canyon Lake Hawks<\/a> at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Calallen will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.<\/p>\n

Calallen is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They came out on top against El Campo by a score of 27-14. The Wildcats’ offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon Lake). They breezed past Taylor to the tune of 63-19 on Friday. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 35 points or more this season.<\/p>\n

Calallen better keep an eye on Chris Brown<\/a>. He was instrumental in Canyon Lake’s win, rushing for 123 yards and four scores on only 12 carries. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Brown a new career-high. Canyon Lake also got a significant boost from Gram Simpson<\/a>, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.<\/p>\n

Canyon Lake was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 277 rushing yards. That’s the most rushing yards they’ve managed all season.<\/p>\n

Canyon Lake didn’t go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Carson Walker<\/a> and Cash Ziemba<\/a>. Eli Hammons<\/a> was another major factor on D, making 16 total tackles (3.0 for loss) and defending five passes.<\/p>\n

Calallen’s record is now 9-2. As for Canyon Lake, their record now sits at 8-3.<\/p>\n

Calallen didn’t have too much breathing room in their contest against Canyon Lake when the teams last played back in November of 2020, but they still walked away with a 37-31 win.
