SAN ANTONIO – Following the death of a local high school student, Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones is calling for safer streets.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the San Antonio Police Department confirmed that a 16-year-old boy, identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office as Jose Flores III , had dien nearly a month after being struck by a car outside John Jay High School.<\/p>\n

Mayor Jones, an alumnus of John Jay High School, offered her condolences to the family and called for safer streets for pedestrians.<\/p>\n
