FRISCO \u2014 The Dallas Cowboys<\/a> waived linebacker Damone Clark and activated defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey, head coach Brian Schottenheimer<\/a> confirmed on Tuesday during a news conference.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys officially announced their latest roster moves Tuesday evening. <\/a>Center Wesley French was also released from the practice squad.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys drafted Clark in the fifth round of the 2022 draft after four years at LSU. In 2021, the then-senior started all 13 games and led the SEC in tackles. Clark was inactive Monday night in the Cowboys\u2019 33-16 win over the Raiders.<\/a> In his eight appearances this season, Clark had 14 total tackles and seven solo tackles.<\/p>\n

Since 2022, Clark has contributed 198 tackles, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told him your career is just getting started,\u201d Schottenheimer said. \u201cSometimes change is good. I really believe that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schottenheimer also confirmed the Cowboys activated Winfrey, who has yet to play a game with the Cowboys this season. The team opened his 21-day practice window in late October. <\/a>In September, he was placed on injured reserve<\/a> after suffering a back injury during the preseason. <\/p>\n

Winfrey was a fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma selected by the Cleveland Browns in 2022. After being released in the summer of 2023 due to legal incidents, Winfrey played for the UFL\u2019s Birmingham Stallions before the Cowboys signed him this offseason. He played one game for the Jets in 2023 and 13 games with the Browns in 2022. <\/p>\n

He earned a spot on the team\u2019s initial 53-man roster before his injury. The Cowboys have activated six players from injured reserve, inching closer to the maximum of eight players allowed per season. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to be very selective of what we\u2019ve done,\u201d Schottenheimer said, before adding, \u201cit\u2019s going to all depend on how these next couple weeks go and hopefully we stay healthy. But if somebody breaks a chin strap and they\u2019re going to miss a little bit of you time, you have to obviously make decisions to bolster your roster. In that regard, there\u2019s quite a few really good football players in that area.\u201d<\/p>\n
