It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Coppell<\/a> had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed past the Plano Wildcats<\/a> to the tune of 38-0. 38 seems to be a good number for the Cowboys as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.<\/p>\n Coppell found their leader in sophomore Carter Zingelmann<\/a>, who threw for 248 yards and three TDs while completing 73.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 44 yards and one touchdown. Jayden George<\/a> was another key player, rushing for 83 yards and one score.<\/p>\n Wins are hard to come by when you can’t run the rock, something Coppell proved: they limited Plano to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Madden Montague<\/a> for the heroic effort on defense: he. Coppell’s ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.4.<\/p>\n Coppell’s defense didn’t let CJ Smith<\/a>, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Aaron Isbell<\/a> was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three himself. Coppell got some further help from Tyrell Roberson<\/a>: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made four total tackles (2.0 for loss).<\/p>\n Coppell’s win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.0 points over those games. As for Plano, they moved to 6-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.<\/p>\n Looking ahead, Coppell will face off against Richardson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 864 yards in their previous games. Plano does not have any more games scheduled as of now.<\/p>\n
