White Road and Fredericksburg Road. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kurufootwear.com\/blogs\/articles\/safest-and-most-dangerous-cities-for-pedestrians\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kurufootwear.com\/blogs\/articles\/safest-and-most-dangerous-cities-for-pedestrians\">study<\/a> ranked San Antonio as the seventh-deadliest city in the nation for pedestrians. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cI think in our everyday lives we get so busy and we\u2019re just rushing from one place to another that we forget to really just slow down (and) pay attention,\u201d said Kristie Flores, a Vision Zero facilitator with the Transportation Department. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">According to Texas Department of Transportation data, there were 769 pedestrian-involved accidents in the city last year. Of those, 168 people were seriously injured and 89 died. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWe take that information very seriously because it\u2019s going to help us also track our success with the program,\u201d Flores said. \u201cSo if somebody\u2019s telling us, \u2018Hey, this is a pretty scary intersection,\u2019 we definitely want to keep tabs on it so that we know how we\u2019re progressing with the campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The Keep Crossings SAfe initiative plans to use $1.2 million in grant funding over the next five years to support a safety outreach campaign, while simultaneously spending more than $4 million on median crosswalks on Zarzamora St. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">On the Keep Crossings SAfe website, anyone can submit a location they believe is a dangerous crosswalk in town.
