ARLINGTON, TX\u00a0\u2013 The UT Arlington volleyball team opens postseason play this week as the Mavericks travel to Abilene to take on host and No. 4 seed Abilene Christian in the first round of the WAC Volleyball Championship on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. C.T.

\nUTA enters this year’s tournament as the reigning WAC champions after outlasting Grand Canyon in a dramatic five-set battle in last year’s title match in Arlington. With a spot in the semifinals on the line, UTA looks to advance and earn a match-up with top-seeded Utah Valley on Friday night.

\n\tFollowing Saturday’s loss to Utah Tech, the Mavericks now hold an 11-13 overall mark and a 3-9 record in conference play.
\n\tUTA will look to flip the script against Abilene Christian after dropping both regular-season meetings \u2013 Once at home (1-3) and again on the road in Abilene (2-3). Despite the recent setbacks, the Mavericks still hold the upper hand in the all-time series, leading 14-6-1.
\n\tThe Mavs have collected nine WAC weekly awards this season in\u00a0Samantha Glenn<\/a>\u00a0earning WAC Libero of the Week (Sep. 16, Sep. 30, Oct. 21, Nov. 11) and\u00a0Mira Ledermueller<\/a>\u00a0being named WAC Setter of the Week (Sep. 2, Sep. 30, Oct. 21, Oct. 28, Nov. 18).
\n\tCurrently, the Mavericks lead the Western Athletic Conference in aces per set (2.03) and team service aces (205).
\n\tUT Arlington also ranks in the conference’s top three in six other categories \u2013 digs per set (No. 3, 14.01), team assists (No. 2, 1,110), team attacks per set (No. 2, 34.43), team digs (No. 2, 1,415), team kills (No. 2, 1,199) and team total attacks (No. 2, 3,477).
\n\tUTA ranks\u00a012th in the NCAA for aces per set (2.03) and 16th in team service aces (205).
\n\tGlenn currently leads the WAC in digs per set (4.18) and ranks second in total digs (422).
\n\tThis week’s WAC Setter of the week, Ledermueller leads the WAC in assists per set (9.05) and total assists (896).
\n\tAlexis Bull<\/a>\u00a0leads the conference in aces per set (.42).
\n\tAlondra Hernandez<\/a> and Ledermueller are tied for second in the conference in service aces with 38.
