This year’s tree is returning for a second holiday season after replacing a shorter, decade-old version last year. Crews began assembly early Monday morning. By early afternoon, the 22-foot-tall holiday centerpiece had been fully assembled and decorated.

The tree and its assembly are organized and paid for by the Lake Highlands Junior Women’s League. For the time being, however, the tree will remain unlit at night. It will remain so until the night of Nov. 30, when the LHJWL is set to host its annual Light Up the Highlands event at the Town Center.

Crews work on assembly early Monday morning.

Slated to begin at 4 p.m, the free event will offer entertainment, food and activities before the grand finale. A Christmas market featuring local vendors was added to the event lineup in 2024 and will return this year, as will NorthPark Presbyterian Church’s reverse food truck. The truck will accept non-perishable food donations for the duration of the event. The pantry’s most needed items currently include spices, flour, corn meal, masa harina flour, sugar, cooking oil, can openers, and maxi pads, according to the event page.

Cane Rosso will sell Neapolitan-style personal pizzas for $12-13, and Cedar and Vine will also have a food truck on-site. Warming refreshments will be provided for free at a hot chocolate station.

Family entertainment options include a bounce house, face painting, balloon artists and snow luge. And in case attendees still need a card photo, pictures with Santa will be available.

The event will culminate in a tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m.

The Lake Highlands Town Center Christmas Tree is standing tall over Cane Rosso and Fish City Grill after…

[15
160,162,161
0":"post-57006","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-plano","8":"tag-plano","9":"tag-plano-headlines","10":"tag-plano-news
["GET
