{"id":60235,"date":"2025-11-22T03:01:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-22T03:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/60235\/"},"modified":"2025-11-22T03:01:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T03:01:11","slug":"holiday-happening-brings-community-together-for-45th-year-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/60235\/","title":{"rendered":"Holiday Happening brings community together for 45th year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; A tradition rooted in community spirit for nearly half a century, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jllubbock.com\/fundraisers\/hh\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.jllubbock.com\/fundraisers\/hh\/\">Holiday Happening<\/a> offers more than just a place to shop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Jamie Cole, owner of Perch and one of this year\u2019s vendors, said the event brings people together from Lubbock and beyond for a week of holiday fun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cEverybody is just so grateful to be here, I mean the shoppers, the vendors, everybody is having such a great time, everybody is cheerful,\u201d Cole said. \u201cSo it just helps everybody get in that Christmas spirit,\u201d Cole said.<\/p>\n<p>Supporting local business<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The event provides holiday cheer and an opportunity for small businesses across the South Plains to meet the local community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s nice to just be able to reach across West Texas and not just be in one area, and get to know other people and other vendors,\u201d Cole said. \u201cThe vendors here are like a family, they just connect and it\u2019s so nice that everybody helps each other out, so you kind of have that feeling of being helpful from the get go when you come here,\u201d Cole said.<\/p>\n<p>Funding community projects<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Holiday Happening is hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jllubbock.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.jllubbock.com\/\">Junior League of Lubbock<\/a>. The league\u2019s publicity chair, Dawne Franks, said it typically brings in more than $400,000 every year to help their mission of building a stronger community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe funds raised from this event goes to support our community projects within the league, specifically Spark, Touch a Truck, Kids in the Kitchen and our focus now is elder care,\u201d Franks said. \u201cWe offer in total around $25,000 in grants to community organizations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Holiday Happening is for all ages, and Franks said anyone and everyone will feel the power of the holiday spirit right as they walk through the front door.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cJust seeing the little kids, just so excited, so if you\u2019re ever kind of down in the dumps just come watch the joy in their faces, it will put a smile on your face immediately,\u201d Franks said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Sunday is the last day to go and shop.
