So that\u2019s eight counties here in East Texas. We had three fatalities in work zone areas last year. Again, we always say that one death is too many. It\u2019s all about bringing awareness to being safe and slowing down if you see us out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As drivers hit the roads this holiday season, it\u2019s important to know that Texas law requires drivers move over a lane or slow down to 20 miles per hour if there\u2019s a crash responder or a road worker on the road.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Drivers could face fines of up to $1,200 and if a first responder is hurt, drivers can face jail time so officials urge East Texans to stay alert while behind the wheel.
