The victory lifted the Lady Chaps to 6–0 and extended their home winning streak to 21 straight.

Chappell delivered one of the most complete games of her LCU career, finishing with 27 points, six rebounds, six assists and an 11-of-12 mark at the free-throw line. Her stat line places her among rare company, becoming just the second Lady Chap in the program’s NCAA era to post at least 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in a single game.

Meekins added 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting and went 5-of-9 from three-point range—her second straight home game opening 3-for-3 from deep in the first quarter. LCU shot 45% from three and committed only seven turnovers, turning Southern Arkansas’ miscues into a 15–6 edge in points off turnovers.

The Lady Chaps never trailed after the 4:17 mark of the first quarter, building a 24–14 lead after 10 minutes and maintaining double-digit control until the final period. Tia Johnson added eight rebounds, and Martie McCoy provided six points and four assists.

Southern Arkansas (2–2) was led by 13 points from Shiloh Fletcher and 12 from Elena Lijo-Rodriguez, but the Muleriders shot 7-of-13 at the line and struggled to slow LCU’s perimeter rhythm.

How It Happened

The Chaparrals opened the game against Southern Arkansas with a strong offensive performance, shooting 72.7% from the field in the first quarter. Despite an early 3-pointer from Southern Arkansas’s Kadia Ward, the Chaps responded with a three-point shot from Meg Meekins at 8:20, assisted by Martie McCoy, to level the score at 3-3. Tia Johnson contributed significantly with a jumper at 6:57 and later added a layup at 5:30, helping her team gain a slight edge. Kennedy Chappell was pivotal in extending the lead with a layup and a free throw, making the score 17-12. The Chaps capitalized on Southern Arkansas’s six personal fouls, with Chappell scoring two free throws at 2:09. The first quarter concluded with Meg Meekins hitting a 3-pointer at the buzzer, securing a 24-14 lead for the Lady Chaps. Meekins posted nine points in the opening frame.

The Lady Chaps extended their lead in the second quarter with a balanced team effort. Meekins initiated the scoring with a jumper at 9:46, and Chappell contributed significantly with three consecutive layups, including a three-point play with 28 seconds remaining. SAU kept the contest tight with Kennedy Moss hitting a 3-pointer at 8:30 and Shiloh Fletcher making a layup off a turnover at 8:04. Despite Southern Arkansas’s efforts, Lubbock Christian maintained control, ending the quarter with a 42-30 advantage behind 11 points from Chappell in the quarter. Meekins contributed significantly, scoring a 3-pointer at 8:02 and a jumper at 2:18, with Johnson assisting on the former. SAU responded with a 3-pointer from Hope Bump at 6:06, but could not close the gap as the Chaps maintained momentum. The quarter concluded with a successful layup by Taylor Allen, putting Lubbock Christian ahead, 59-41, as they outscored the Muleriders 18-11 in the quarter. Chappell (10) and Meekins (6) combined for 16 of LCU’s 18 points in the quarter.

The Lady Chaps faced the Muleriders in the final quarter with a 13-point advantage, leading 60-44. Southern Arkansas attempted a comeback as Fletcher connected on multiple 3-pointers, including one at 9:43 and another at 3:15, reducing the deficit. However, Lubbock Christian maintained their lead with steady offensive contributions, including Meekins’ layup at 2:41 and Maddie Moyers’ 3-pointer at 5:42.
