ARLINGTON \u2014 Dallas Cowboys<\/a> quarterback Dak Prescott<\/a> is his own biggest critic. Conversely, he may be his biggest believer, too.<\/p>\n

Which is why he wasn\u2019t surprised, necessarily, that he found himself in a historic place on Sunday. <\/p>\n

Prescott passed Tony Romo to become the franchise\u2019s all-time leader in passing yards in Sunday\u2019s game against the Eagles. On his first pass attempt of the second half, he hit George Pickens on a play-action completion for nine yards to break the record. <\/p>\n

Prescott entered the game needing 160 yards to surpass Romo, who set the previous record with 34,183 passing yards. Romo set the record in 153 career games with the Cowboys; Prescott did it in his 133rd game. <\/p>\n

Prescott has now carved a decent amount of Cowboys history for himself. He\u2019s first in completion percentage, completions, and passer rating. He\u2019s second in franchise history in passing touchdowns, and third in wins among quarterbacks. <\/p>\n

Prescott has been adamant that his focus isn\u2019t on making history with the Cowboys. <\/p>\n

\u201cHis focus is this football team,\u201d Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer<\/a> said earlier this week. <\/p>\n

And winning a Super Bowl. But still, becoming the franchise\u2019s all-time passing leader is notable, even if Prescott confidently thought it was inevitable. He was asked if he thought 10 years ago, when he was a rookie, if this record was possible. Prescott said yes. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019ve played in this game long enough and you can stay healthy, with my expectations of what my play is, that\u2019s supposed to happen,\u201d he said. \u201cSo just thankful, humbled, super grateful to be playing a game I love at this high of a level. To still be doing it and look forward to keep going any of those that will happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The record, Prescott said, may have his name on it, but he also gave credit to those around him. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s definitely something to be shared,\u201d Prescott said, \u201cwhether it be with CeeDee [Lamb], whether it be with Amari [Cooper] had a big part of it, right? All these receivers. Michael Gallup played a big part of these records, right? Dalton Schultz. Jake [Ferguson], [Jason] Witten. Like, so many of them. I\u2019m just a product of a lot of great players. And that\u2019s my point, you play a long time and you play with the standard and expectation that I have, you should accomplish these types of things.\u201d<\/p>\n
