BEXAR COUNTY, Texas \u2013 A man was arrested in connection with the murder of Stacey Dramiga<\/a>, who was found dead at a local park in 2024, according to the Bexar County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Samuel Aquim Charon, 23, was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Wednesday. He faces two charges: capital murder, a first-degree felony, and tampering with a human corpse, a second-degree felony, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said in a Wednesday evening news conference. <\/p>\n

Salazar said Charon\u2019s arrest was made possible by a state law that established a DNA database.<\/p>\n

The law, which took effect a few years ago, allows authorities to collect DNA from suspects booked into jail, leading to the identification of Charon\u2019s DNA, Salazar said.<\/p>\n

He was booked on April 9 on a charge of criminal mischief, and his DNA sample later matched the evidence from the crime scene. Before Charon\u2019s April arrest, Salazar said his DNA was not previously in the system, as he had no prior criminal history.<\/p>\n

Salazar did not provide further details on Charon\u2019s April arrest.<\/p>\n

After the initial match, investigators obtained a warrant to collect a second DNA sample from Charon, which confirmed the match, Salazar said.<\/p>\n

Dramiga, a 63-year-old wife and mother, was found dead on Sept. 23, 2024, just off the paved trail along the Salado Creek Greenway in southeast Bexar County. On Sept. 22, 2024, Salazar said Dramiga\u2019s family members reported her missing.<\/p>\n

Her car was found the next morning at Comanche Park, prompting a search involving several law enforcement agencies, Salazar said. Her remains were discovered during the search.<\/p>\n

Investigators determined Dramiga died from blunt force and penetrating trauma to the head. She was also sexually assaulted and partially burned, Salazar said. <\/p>\n

DNA collected from her body and a rock believed to be the murder weapon matched Charon\u2019s DNA, the sheriff said.<\/p>\n

Salazar described the attack as a \u201csavage crime\u201d during the news conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat man you saw there is a monster,\u201d Salazar said after Charon was walked to a BCSO unit. <\/p>\n

Investigators believe the attack was an ambush in broad daylight and that Charon acted alone.<\/p>\n

Charon was taken into custody without incident at his home, where arrest warrants were executed. He invoked his right to remain silent during questioning, Salazar said.<\/p>\n

The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
