{"id":62837,"date":"2025-11-24T14:09:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T14:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/62837\/"},"modified":"2025-11-24T14:09:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T14:09:08","slug":"texas-am-basketball-player-provides-thanksgiving-turkeys-for-70-brazos-valley-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/62837\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas A&#038;M basketball player provides Thanksgiving turkeys for 70 Brazos Valley families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) &#8211; Texas A&amp;M forward Mackenzie Mgbako helped ensure 70 Brazos Valley families will have turkey on their Thanksgiving tables this year through a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of the Brazos Valley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The transfer student from Indiana University said giving back to his new community was important to him as he begins his time at A&amp;M.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s always amazing to get back to the community, even if I\u2019m not from here, just helping out families in need,\u201d Mgbako said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">For many families in the Brazos Valley, Thanksgiving can be a financially challenging time. <a href=\"https:\/\/12thman.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/mackenzie-mgbako\/15015\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/12thman.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/mackenzie-mgbako\/15015\">Mgbako <\/a>worked directly with the Boys and Girls Club to provide turkeys for those families this holiday season. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Texas A&amp;M basketball player provides Thanksgiving turkeys for 70 Brazos Valley families\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/AYBWK7TSUBFORNL53ASPDT7RBA.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>Texas A&amp;M basketball player provides Thanksgiving turkeys for 70 Brazos Valley families(KBTX)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI feel like that\u2019s what it\u2019s all about, living for something other than yourself,\u201d Mgbako said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Maya Raesch, athletic coordinator at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bgcbv.org\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.bgcbv.org\/\">Boys and Girls Club<\/a>, said she was moved by Mgbako\u2019s commitment to serving the community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s great to get partnerships with Texas A&amp;M and have people who go to this university and come in from other cities, other states, come in and give back to the community that is already here,\u201d Raesch said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">As families left with their Thanksgiving turkeys, Mgbako said he was grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in his new home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s an amazing season to be grateful for the people around you and get back to the community,\u201d Mgbako said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2025 KBTX.
