CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 CHRISTUS Spohn Health System temporarily closed the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Health Center late last week after staff reported a faint natural gas odor inside the facility.<\/p>\n
According to Gloria Madera, Public Relations Manager at CHRISTUS Health, the clinic was closed as a precaution to ensure patient safety.<\/p>\n
On November 20, several patients reported a strong odor in the building, with some experiencing lightheadedness and nausea due to the gas leak. Patients were evacuated as a safety concern.<\/p>\n
The Corpus Christi Fire Department and Gas Department conducted comprehensive inspections and confirmed that the building’s natural gas systems are safe and in compliance with regulations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
CHRISTUS Spohn officials said leadership will continue to monitor the situation as additional testing takes place.<\/p>\n
Patients whose appointments were affected will be contacted directly to reschedule their appointments. Those needing prescription services may visit the Westside Clinic in the meantime.<\/p>\n
