(November 24, 2025) \u2013 No. 7 Lubbock Christian University closed a grueling three-games-in-four-days stretch in dramatic fashion Monday evening, as freshman <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/meg-meekins\/4856\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4856\" target=\"_blank\">Meg Meekins<\/a> buried a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Lady Chaps to a 62\u201361 road win over Southwestern Oklahoma State inside the Pioneer Cellular Events Center. LCU improved to 7\u20130 heading into next week&#8217;s Lone Star Conference opener.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMeekins, who was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week earlier in the day, delivered another electric performance with 18 points on 5-of-7 shooting from three\u2014her third straight game with at least five made threes, marking the first such streak in LCU&#8217;s NCAA era. Her final shot came off a kick-out pass (from the interior from <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/kennedy-chappell\/4849\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4849\" target=\"_blank\">Kennedy Chappell<\/a>) with under a second remaining, erasing a one-point deficit after SWOSU&#8217;s Sincere Jackson had put the Bulldogs ahead in the final minute.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nLCU knocked down a season-high 12 three-pointers and received a career-best 15 points from sophomore forward <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/tia-johnson\/3512\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"3512\" target=\"_blank\">Tia Johnson<\/a>, who also added three rebounds. Junior guard <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/kennedy-chappell\/4849\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4849\" target=\"_blank\">Kennedy Chappell<\/a> finished with 11 points and six assists, marking her sixth double-figure outing in seven games. <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/martie-mccoy\/3511\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"3511\" target=\"_blank\">Martie McCoy<\/a> posted seven rebounds and a team-leading four steals.<\/p>\n<p>SWOSU (2\u20132) was powered by a standout 23-point, eight-rebound effort from Sincere Jackson and held a 36\u201310 scoring advantage in the paint, but the Bulldogs managed just 3-of-18 from three-point range (16.7%). LCU overcame a rare 15\u20130 deficit in points off turnovers and nine lead changes to secure its seventh straight win in the series.<\/p>\n<p>How It Happened<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nLubbock Christian and Southwestern Oklahoma State opened the game with a tightly contested first quarter, which ended with Southwestern Oklahoma State leading 12-8. SWOSU&#8217;s Sincere Jackson scored the first basket with a tip-in at 9:06, while Elle Papahronis contributed four points from free throws. <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/meg-meekins\/4856\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4856\" target=\"_blank\">Meg Meekins<\/a> led the Lady Chaps&#8217; scoring with a three-pointer at 5:37, assisted by <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/martie-mccoy\/3511\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"3511\" target=\"_blank\">Martie McCoy<\/a>, and added a jumper to tie the game at 8-8 with 3:36 remaining. However, the Bulldogs pulled ahead with baskets from Landry Allen and Maebry Shields, the latter scoring a fastbreak layup with 1:13 on the clock. Meekins had five points to lead LCU through the opening 10 minutes.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/kennedy-chappell\/4849\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4849\" target=\"_blank\">Kennedy Chappell<\/a> of the Lady Chaps started the second quarter with a three-pointer, assisted by McCoy, to bring the score to 11-12. SWOSU maintained a slim lead, highlighted by Jackson&#8217;s tip-in at 6:55, pushing their advantage to 15-11. Despite turnovers and fouls from both teams, <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/maddie-moyers\/4854\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4854\" target=\"_blank\">Maddie Moyers<\/a> closed the quarter with a crucial three-pointer at the buzzer, assisted by Chappell, narrowing the Bulldogs&#8217; lead to 22-21. The Chaparrals outscored SWOSU 13-10 in the quarter. SWOSU was 0-of-6 from long-range at the half. Moyers, hitting a pair of three-pointers in the period, led LCU in the frame with six points. She joined Chappell co-leading the team in scoring in the opening half (each had six points in the first half).<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nLubbock Christian took control early in the third quarter with Meekins sinking a three-pointer assisted by Chappell, giving them a 24-22 lead. <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/tia-johnson\/3512\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"3512\" target=\"_blank\">Tia Johnson<\/a> extended the advantage with a three-point play, making it 28-24. SWOSU&#8217;s Jackson kept it close with consecutive scoring efforts, including a tip-in to narrow the gap to 30-26. In the final minutes, <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/kimber-mathews\/4852\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4852\" target=\"_blank\">Kimber Mathews<\/a> and Meekins each added crucial three-pointers, helping the Lady Chaps secure a 42-36 lead by the quarter&#8217;s end. Despite several turnovers, the Chaps maintained their edge, outscoring SWOSU 21-14 in the quarter behind 13 points in the frame combined from <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/tia-johnson\/3512\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"3512\" target=\"_blank\">Tia Johnson<\/a> (7) and Meekins (6). Jackson produced 11 in the quarter for SWOSU.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nIn a tense final quarter, the Lady Chaps secured a narrow 62-61 victory over the Bulldogs. Papahronis of SWOSU tied the game at 42-42 with a three-pointer at 9:15, but Johnson of Lubbock Christian responded with consecutive free throws to regain the lead. Inside the final three minutes LCU twice led by four points, but SWOSU answered three-pointers from Meekins and Chappel. \u00a0As time wound down, Jackson put SWOSU ahead by one with a layup at the 39-second mark. They added to the lead with a free-throw from Jackson with eight seconds left. Off an inbounds play, Meekins of the Chaps hit a decisive three-pointer at the buzzer, assisted by Chappell, clinching the win for the visiting team.<\/p>\n<p>Game Notes<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00bb <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/meg-meekins\/4856\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4856\" target=\"_blank\">Meg Meekins<\/a>, who prior to the game was recognized as the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, connected on 5-of-7 from three-point range. The performance marked her third consecutive game with at least five three-pointers made, as she becomes the first Lady Chaps in their NCAA-era to\u00a0 have five-or-more three pointers in three consecutive game.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00bb LCU was out-scored 15-0 in points off turnovers, marking the first time in their NCAA-era they have been held without any points off turnovers.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00bb <a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/tia-johnson\/3512\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"3512\" target=\"_blank\">Tia Johnson<\/a> reached double-figures in points for a third time in her LCU career, and her 15 points marked a career-high total.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00bb LCU drained as season-high 12 three-pointers, which is their second game of 10+ three-pointers this season.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00bb\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/kennedy-chappell\/4849\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lcuchaps.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/kennedy-chappell\/4849\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4849\" target=\"_blank\">Kennedy Chappell<\/a><\/a>\u00a0has racked up double figures offensively six of the seven games this season after posting 11 points Monday. She has 16 double-figure performances in her LCU career.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00bb The contest had nine lead changes and LCU won despite an amount of 16:58 with the lead, while SWOSU led for 19:01. LCU led as much as six points and SWOSU led by seven points early in the second quarter.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00bb LCU, who went 11-1 in road contests last season, improved to 2-0 in road play this season and their road win streak, carried over from last season, extends to 12 consecutive road wins.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00bb The Lady Chaps have now won seven straight meetings against SWOSU, as they are 10-3 in the all-time series.
