CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 The Salvation Army in Corpus Christi is seeking sponsors for the Angel Tree program to make a child’s holiday season brighter.\u00a0<\/p>\n
RELATED: Salvation Army seeks volunteers for Red Kettle campaign, Angel Tree programs<\/a><\/p>\n Commanding Officer of the Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend, Major Nathanael Doria, says the program launches today, but notes that they have been selecting families since October to find sponsors for them.\u00a0<\/p>\n “The gifts are between $30 and $50. No other than helping the neighbor that might be in more difficult situations than you,”\u00a0Doria said.\u00a0<\/p>\n RELATED: Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend kicks off Angel Tree season<\/a><\/p>\n Each year, The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program provides new clothing and toys to more than 1,000 children in the Coastal Bend. To purchase a gift from the Walmart registry, click here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n Doria adds, “This Christmas we have registered 399 families in the coastal bend, from those families there are 1,081 children. This Angel Tree is better than other angel trees because the Angel Tree program was envisioned for kids 0 to 12. And we also help kids 13, 14, and 15 a little bit older. This year we have 190 in that age that we promise we will find a sponsor for a $50 gift card from Walmart.”<\/p>\n The Salvation Army continues to seek volunteers for its Red Kettle campaign, aiming to raise $150,000 this Christmas. Dorian says that has been the goal for the last three years.
