We’re better together.”

Victoria Ramirez and her husband have set up a blessing box off 18th and Wausau in west Lubbock, so people can get basic necessities with love and no judgements.

Victoria plan, assisted by her husband’s building efforts, made the project come together, a sign of generosity that runs in her family.

“My parents always had treats for the kids,” Ramirez said. “They always had tortillas, beans or something going, so all the kids knew they could go and have a snack.”

Ramirez knows how hard things can be for people this time of year, so after a little inspiration, she stepped up to the plate.

“I started seeing people with their TikToks; they were coming up with blessing boxes and little community pantries and putting them outside,” Ramirez said. “I just felt it in my heart to go ahead and put one up.”

Inside the blessing box, there’s plenty to go around. From fruits, canned goods and pantry items to baby clothes and diapers.

And there’s the message on the top of the box, ‘take what you need, give what you can.’ After Ramirez started spreading the word about the box on local Facebook groups, community members took notice.

“The people that have seen it, they’ve come out and said I have some stuff, I’ll stop by tomorrow or I have baby clothes or formula,” Ramirez said, “and I’m just like, put it in the box and we’ll organize it and we’ll put it out there.”

Ramirez says in recent days, she hasn’t even had to fill the box up herself. It also doesn’t just stop after Thanksgiving.

After having conversations with those who have provided goods, Ramirez has considered expanding the box, along with its capabilities. Things such as adult clothes and toys could be on this front lawn come December.

Enthusiasm for the project is growing, and with the Lubbock community’s help, Ramirez says making this blessing box a reality has also been a blessing to her family.

“To be able to come and just grab something that you need without having to answer questions or without being judged or without having to feel any type of way, I think that’s something people need right now no questions asked,” Ramirez said.

If you would like to donate to the blessing box, you can find the exact address on Ramirez’s Facebook page.

Copyright 2025 KCBD.
