{"id":67185,"date":"2025-11-27T10:09:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T10:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/67185\/"},"modified":"2025-11-27T10:09:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T10:09:08","slug":"chenieres-corpus-christi-expansion-project-over-92-percent-complete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/67185\/","title":{"rendered":"Cheniere\u2019s Corpus Christi expansion project over 92 percent complete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Stage 3 expansion project at Cheniere\u2019s Corpus Christi LNG export plant in Texas is more than 92 percent complete, according to the latest construction update.<\/p>\n<p>The first three Corpus Christi trains have a capacity of approximately 15 mtpa.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2022, Cheniere\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/lng-terminals\/cheniere-takes-fid-on-corpus-christi-lng-expansion-project\/55201\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">made the final investment decision\u00a0<\/a>on the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion project, worth about $8 billion, while compatriot\u00a0Bechtel\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/americas\/cheniere-officially-starts-work-on-corpus-christi-lng-expansion-project\/63271\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">officially started construction\u00a0<\/a>on the project in October of the same year.<\/p>\n<p>The project includes building seven midscale trains, each with an expected liquefaction capacity of about 1.49 mtpa. However, Cheniere is <a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/americas\/cheniere-to-boost-capacity-of-corpus-christi-midscale-trains\/169379\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">seeking authorization<\/a> from the US FERC to increase the capacity of these trains and the other two midscale trains.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2025, Cheniere\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/americas\/cheniere-completes-first-train-at-corpus-christi-expansion-project\/145196\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">achieved<\/a>\u00a0substantial completion of the first liquefaction train at the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion project, while the company\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/americas\/cheniere-completes-second-train-at-corpus-christi-lng-expansion-project\/159262\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">completed<\/a>\u00a0the second liquefaction train in August and <a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/americas\/cheniere-completes-third-train-at-corpus-christi-lng-expansion-project\/167523\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the third train<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n<p>Construction update<\/p>\n<p>Cheniere\u2019s unit, Corpus Christi Liquefaction, said in the October construction report filed with FERC last week that the overall project completion rate for Stage 3 is 92.1 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The project was 90.5 percent complete as of the end of September.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 3 engineering and procurement were 99.5 percent and 100 percent complete as of the end of October 2025, respectively, while subcontract and direct hire construction work were 94.2 percent and 79.1 percent complete, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>During September, key work fronts included aboveground piping in Trains 4 \u2013 7 and outside boundary limits (OSBL), concrete pours in Trains 4 \u2013 7 and OSBL, structural steel erection in Trains 5 \u2013 7 and OSBL, underground piping installation in Trains 6 \u2013 7 and OSBL, and equipment setting in Trains 5 \u2013 7.<\/p>\n<p>CCL said additional continued work included road improvements, drainage work, and mobilization of temporary facilities, equipment, and personnel.<\/p>\n<p>Key work fronts for the Midscale Trains 8 &amp; 9 project, for which<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/americas\/cheniere-takes-fid-on-two-more-corpus-christi-lng-trains\/155086\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> FID was made <\/a>in June this year, included site preparation activities and construction of the sixth BOG compressor, the company noted.<\/p>\n<p>The Trains 8 &amp; 9 project is overall 27.7 percent complete.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"602\" height=\"448\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Chenieres-Corpus-Christi-expansion-project-over-92-percent-complete2.jpg\" alt=\"Cheniere\u2019s Corpus Christi expansion project over 92 percent complete2\" class=\"wp-image-170148\" style=\"width:748px;height:auto\"  \/>Train 7 fin fan installation  (Image: Cheniere)<\/p>\n<p>During November, Bechtel will continue concrete foundations and pedestal works, installation and testing of aboveground piping, and complete cable pull at the fourth liquefaction train.<\/p>\n<p>Cheniere is nearing the completion of this train.<\/p>\n<p>In September, Cheniere\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/americas\/cheniere-kicks-off-commissioning-at-fourth-corpus-christi-expansion-train\/164226\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">initiated<\/a>\u00a0commissioning activities at the fourth train of the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion project.<\/p>\n<p>Cheniere said in its third-quarter report that it expects first LNG from Train 4 in November and substantial completion \u201caround year-end 2025 or early 2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Cheniere, Trains 5 \u2013 7 are scheduled to reach substantial completion throughout 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Over 30 mtpa<\/p>\n<p>Upon completion of these expansion projects, and together with expected debottlenecking, the Corpus Christi LNG terminal is expected to reach over 30 mtpa in total liquefaction capacity later this decade, according to Cheniere.<\/p>\n<p>In addition ot these project, Cheniere received\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/americas\/cheniere-to-start-pre-filing-process-for-corpus-christi-stage-4-project\/157462\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">approval\u00a0<\/a>from FERC to initiate the environmental pre-filing review for its Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 4 project.<\/p>\n<p>The trains will have a peak production capacity of approximately 24 mtpa of LNG.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Stage 3 expansion project at Cheniere\u2019s Corpus Christi LNG export plant in Texas is more than 92&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":67186,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[14],"tags":[10085,155,157,156,10086],"class_list":{"0":"post-67185","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-corpus-christi","8":"tag-cheniere","9":"tag-corpus-christi","10":"tag-corpus-christi-headlines","11":"tag-corpus-christi-news","12":"tag-ferc"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/67185","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=67185"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/67185\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/67186"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=67185"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=67185"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=67185"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
