The Turkey Chase 5K brings Corpus Christi together for a spirited start to the season.<\/p>\n

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 The Corpus Christi Roadrunners took over downtown early Thursday morning, bringing out big smiles, fast feet, and plenty of holiday energy as runners hit the pavement for one of the area’s most laid-back but lively Thanksgiving traditions.<\/p>\n

Families, seasoned racers, and first-timers all showed up with upbeat vibes and lots of friendly competition along the way at Water’s Edge Park.<\/p>\n

Spectators lined the route with homemade signs, cheers, and the occasional turkey hat.<\/p>\n

Dawnita Taylor says, “It is camaraderie and it’s family and seeing the children run that people. are investing the time and energy in their kids to be healthy at an early age because it goes beyond that. I never started running until I was in my late 40s, so I wish I would have had that.”<\/p>\n

Organizers say the growing turnout demonstrates the community’s love for a good holiday run, and plans for next year are already underway.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For now, runners are heading home with medals, memories, and maybe a little extra appetite for Thanksgiving dinner.<\/p>\n

But Taylor’s message to the community this holiday season, “Be patient with each other, to forgive, because that’s what Thanksgiving is. And be thankful and to all the glory. God gets all the glory.<\/p>\n
