(WMC) &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/2024\/12\/06\/customers-stunned-after-houstons-restaurant-east-memphis-closes-suddenly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/2024\/12\/06\/customers-stunned-after-houstons-restaurant-east-memphis-closes-suddenly\/\">The former Houston\u2019s Restaurant<\/a> in East Memphis is set for demolition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A demolition permit was filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This comes weeks after the restaurant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/2025\/11\/07\/former-houstons-restaurant-sold-developer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/2025\/11\/07\/former-houstons-restaurant-sold-developer\/\">was sold to a new owner<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The property was sold on October 31 for $2.1 million to an entity known as 5000 Poplar, LLC.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">It\u2019s unclear what plans are in the works for the property once it is razed. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Houston\u2019s Restaurant at 5000 Poplar Avenue in East Memphis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/2024\/12\/05\/houstons-permanently-closing-restaurant-announces\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/2024\/12\/05\/houstons-permanently-closing-restaurant-announces\/\" target=\"_blank\">closed suddenly and permanently<\/a> in December of 2024 and has been vacant since.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/newsletter\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/newsletter\/\">Click here<\/a> to sign up for our newsletter!<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfpc96d0EDHinF_AovDBi4RNoKbBfRbCIJiTWqF7p1VNE6ZNA\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Click here<\/a> to report a spelling or grammar error.
