The filing comes days after Justice Samuel Alito issued an administrative stay, halting the lower court\u2019s order from taking effect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The legal battle centers on Texas\u2019s congressional boundaries, with plaintiffs challenging the maps in federal court. Paxton describes the challengers as liberal activists seeking to overturn the Legislature\u2019s work. Control over the map ahead of the next election cycle remains at stake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The dispute escalated after a district court blocked Texas from using its enacted map. Paxton appealed to the Supreme Court on November 21 and requested an emergency stay.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Within hours, Justice Alito granted temporary relief by issuing an administrative stay. Plaintiffs then submitted responses, prompting Monday\u2019s reply from the Texas Attorney General\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThe radical Left is attempting to abuse the judicial system to steal the U.S. House, but we will be relentless in defending our state\u2019s right to draw our own maps and chart our own political destiny,\u201d Paxton said. \u201cThe map I\u2019m defending is exactly what Texas needs to ensure better representation of our conservative values and the political ideology of our state\u2019s voters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Paxton accused Democrats of hypocrisy on gerrymandering. \u201cBlue states have gerrymandered their districts for decades. Only now, when Republicans draw maps to ensure our states are properly represented, do the Democrats have an issue with this political strategy and baselessly attack us with false \u2018racism\u2019 accusations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The Supreme Court must now decide whether to extend the stay while it considers the full appeal.
