Texas<\/a> pulled off an upset against in-state rival Texas A&M on Friday night in a thrilling 27-17 victory that had head coach Steve Sarkisian professing his 9-3 Longhorns should make the College Football Playoff<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I think we’re absolutely a playoff team,” Sarkisian said. “We just beat them by two scores. So to me, that’s a pretty impressive win, a pretty dominant win for our team that I don’t know how many other teams can say they have wins like that on their schedule.”<\/p>\n

Sarkisian touted his team’s decision to face Ohio State in a non-conference tilt as part of the reason it should make the playoff.<\/p>\n

“We went on the road to Ohio State in Week 1 and lost to them in a one-score game,” Sarkisian said. “We outgained them by nearly 200 yards, and no one else has been close to a one-score game against them. But I think more importantly, it’s the message that what do we want to send to the head coaches and the athletic directors around the country? Do you want us not to schedule Ohio State? Because if we’re a 10-2 team right now, this isn’t a discussion. We’re in the playoff. But we were willing to go up there and play that game.”<\/p>\n

While the Longhorns might not make the playoff, they can celebrate beating their bitter rival. That’s exactly what actor and Texas Minister of Culture Matthew McConaughey did.<\/p>\n

“Aggies brought nails, Horns brought wood screws. Aggies brought a hammer, Horns brought a sledge. hearts big, spirits high, loins low. Hook em,” the actor said after the win.<\/p>\n

Star quarterback Arch Manning started the game just 5-of-17 passing, but completed nine of his last 12 passes for over 150 yards and a touchdown as the Longhorns handed the Aggies their first loss of the season.<\/p>\n
