Severe Weather Risk to hit Houston while you and your family sleep tonight. Here is what you need to know to stay safe and plan ahead of the next round of thunderstorms: Right now, we\u2019re tracking light rain. <\/p>\n

Another strong cold front is expected to hit Houston tonight while most of us are sleeping. <\/p>\n

Some storms could quickly turn severe, capable of producing large hail, damaging wind gusts of 40-60 mph, flash flooding, and even an isolated tornado. The tornado risk is low (2%), but it\u2019s not zero \u2014 we saw what happened Monday, so we treat every threat seriously. <\/p>\n

Today\u2019s timeline:<\/p>\n

– This morning: Lighter rain north, northwest of the city<\/p>\n

– Around 5 PM: Isolated thunderstorms possible north and northwest<\/p>\n

– 10 PM Saturday night to 5 AM Sunday: Main line of strong\/severe storms moves through \u2014 this is when the highest risk arrives and most of us will be asleep.<\/p>\n

Rain totals: Widespread 1-4 inches expected Saturday into Sunday.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s a 22-degree drop in just 12 hours \u2014 nearly 2 degrees per hour overnight.<\/p>\n
