TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – It was a rendition of the national anthem prior to a Texas College football game from choir member, Angel Cummings, that caught the attention of her hometown NFL team.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just sing because I like doing it, and it\u2019s crazy that people like hearing me but, I think I am just extremely humbled just to even be considered for something like this,\u201d Cummings said.<\/p>\n
Born in Kansas City, her family are fans of the Chiefs. <\/p>\n
Cummings said after posting the video of her singing the national anthem, the Hunt family who own the Chiefs contacted her, wanting her to perform the national anthem before their Sunday Night Football against the Houston Texans. <\/p>\n
She said it was like a dream come true.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just so excited to even be in Arrowhead. If you don\u2019t know about that adrenaline that energy that\u2019s in that stadium is super crazy and I\u2019m ready to experience it,\u201d Cummings said.<\/p>\n
As a member of the Texas College choir, Cummings has traveled around East Texas and even to DFW to perform.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s just a lot of cool experiences that I have been able to have being a part of Texas College Choir,\u201d Cummings said.<\/p>\n
But nothing quite like the bright lights of the NFL.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe closer I\u2019m getting to it. I\u2019m feeling the pressure but I think I\u2019m excited,\u201d Cummings said.<\/p>\n
Cummings said she hopes to make her family proud, and represent her choir no matter the pressure she faces.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything happens for a reason and there\u2019s a reason why I was chosen so I think I want to do a good job of showing people that, hey you can choose me again. right now I\u2019m just, I\u2019m just carrying my family on my back like wherever I\u2019m going I wanna take them there with me,\u201d Cummings said.<\/p>\n
Texas College Choir Director, Charles Shaw, said that he plans to support her all the way to Kansas City, and root for her from the stands.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven when we are not in the choir room, she does a whole lot. So, no other way for me to just go and support her just to let her know that I\u2019m proud of her but just to let her know, you got this,\u201d Shaw said.<\/p>\n
The Kansas City Chiefs will play the Houston Texans on December 7th at 7:15 PM, with the national anthem taking place a few minutes before kickoff.<\/p>\n
