{"id":71587,"date":"2025-12-01T16:34:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-01T16:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/71587\/"},"modified":"2025-12-01T16:34:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-01T16:34:10","slug":"sometimes-lightning-strikes-2-mansfield-students-score-roles-on-abbott-elementary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/71587\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Sometimes lightning strikes&#8217;: 2 Mansfield students score roles on \u2018Abbott Elementary\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Breaking through in Hollywood can be tough, but two Mansfield ISD students are making it look easy.<\/p>\n<p>Seventh-graders Aeiress Jones and Raymond Ware recently landed roles on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/awards\/quinta-brunson-on-abbott-elementary-emmys-season-five-1236488946\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Emmy-winning comedy<\/a>\u00a0Abbott Elementary.<\/p>\n<p>They attend different middle schools, work with different managers and auditioned separately, so neither knew the other was up for a role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean that is pretty amazing,\u201d said Jamie Malone, owner of MC Talent Management. \u201cSometimes lightning strikes. You just never know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Malone is based in Los Angeles, but Aeiress isn\u2019t her only Texas client. (Courtesy photo | Gilles Mingasson, Disney)<\/p>\n<p>On\u00a0Abbott, she\u2019ll play a character named CC in an episode airing Dec. 3.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first day I walked out [on set], it was like the best experience ever,\u201d Aeiress said. \u201cAnd I remember just being so excited and mind blown and so ready to do it the next day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She met Raymond through the Fine Arts Academy at Alma Martinez Intermediate School, and described him as a great person.<\/p>\n<p>Raymond first realized he might want to act while watching movies with his family.<\/p>\n<p>He joined his elementary school\u2019s drama club, and after performing in\u00a0The Big Bad Wolf\u00a0and\u00a0The Wizard of Oz,\u00a0he was hooked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was really theater that kind of sparked me, like actually starting to love it a lot,\u201d Raymond said.<\/p>\n<p>From there he shot a local ad for Academy Sports + Outdoors. (Courtesy photo | Selena Ware)<\/p>\n<p>On Dec. 17, viewers will see Raymond play Kawhi, a sleepy student wandering the school, unsure of where he\u2019s supposed to be.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe set was really cool. It\u2019s cool to see behind the scenes because I never really know how much effort people put into it and how quick they turn around things,\u201d Raymond said.<\/p>\n<p>Raymond is a big fan of the show, and was surprised when they led him to his own trailer on set.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI still kind of think it\u2019s a dream, but I think the most exciting part was just seeing the people that I always watch all the time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Raymond was happy when he found out that Aeiress had also booked a role.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was just excited. I was like, \u2018We\u2019re doin\u2019 it! We\u2019re doin\u2019 it!\u2019 I\u2019m proud of where I\u2019m from,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Raymond wants to help put his hometown on the map for people outside of Texas.
