"Volk

Volk Estates is a neighborhood of architect-designed estate homes that is essentially hidden in plain sight in the middle of University Park. Developed on 41 acres purchased from SMU by Leonard Volk in the 1920s, it was designed to be an exclusive neighborhood where wealthy people could build large homes on scenic lots. Not much has changed. It’s still among the most coveted and private enclaves in Dallas.

The neighborhood is private because the natural boundaries of Turtle Creek and Centennial Park insulate it. Lovers Lane and University Boulevard are through streets, so unless you are specifically headed to see someone in Volk Estates, you’d never make the turn to see it.

There are still original historic estates here, but every once in a while, a new build comes along. And I think even Mr. Volk would do the proverbial jaw drop if he could see this Volk Estates mansion.

Set on almost an acre, this new construction estate was designed by Mark Hoesterey, one of the principals at SHM Architects. It was built by Jeremy Durrett at Venus Homes of Texas, with Erin Sander creating the interior concept. It’s all that and more.

“Ludowici reclaimed tile was used for the roof,” Allie Beth Allman listing agent Chad Barrett said. “A patina stucco was chosen rather than a bright white to blend old with new.”

The 10,491-square-foot, seven-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bathroom home was built to a custom level with a million-dollar door and window package and every feature you can imagine, from automated shades to state-of-the-art lighting, audio, and security systems.

“The floor plan is incredibly flexible,” Barrett said. “In the back of the home, there is a guest suite with a private living room, which would be nice for an au pair or in-law suite.”

Remember, this is an estate, so there is an exceptionally large backyard with an infinity edge pool and an oversized four-car garage. Every tree on the property was saved, adding to the privacy of this estate.

Barrett has this new Volk Estates mansion at 6901 Hunters Glen Rd. available for $24.5 million.

Given the neighborhood’s exclusivity and historical prestige, this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Volk Estates is a neighborhood of architect-designed estate homes that is essentially hidden in plain sight in the…

[9
36177,8921,36178,36179,36180,102,104,103,36181,36182,36183,33002,33004,5469,36184,36185
post-72338","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dallas","tag-6901-hunters-glen","tag-allie-beth-allman","tag-blue-sky-living","tag-chad-barrett","tag-cindy-musgrove","tag-dallas","tag-dallas-headlines","tag-dallas-news","tag-erin-sander","tag-jeremy-durrett","tag-ludowici","tag-mark-hoesterey","tag-shm-architects","tag-university-park","tag-venus-homes","tag-volk-estates
["GET
