LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – What happened to Brianna Aguilera?<\/p>\n
Brianna Aguilera, a young woman from Laredo and a student at Texas A&M, died in Austin after attending a tailgate last Friday \u2014 a case that has since drawn national attention.<\/p>\n
Her body was discovered the following day, Saturday, Nov. 29, near an apartment complex. Austin police say Aguilera fell from a 17th\u2011floor unit. Her mother, speaking to KGNS, has disputed that account and is pushing back against the police version of events.<\/p>\n
U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar posted condolences on social media and said his office has been monitoring the situation and will continue to follow developments closely.<\/p>\n
Aguilera was days away from turning 20 and expected to graduate from Texas A&M next year. She was also a graduate of United High School, and UISD Board President Javier Montemayor expressed sorrow over the loss, noting the impact on the district and the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey become part of a family, all of our students. All of our 39,000 students become part of a family. Our teachers and administrators deal with them every day. So, it\u2019s very difficult when you hear of a former student or a current student passing away,\u201d Montemayor said. <\/p>\n
At this time, Austin police say the death is not being investigated as a homicide. The investigation remains open while authorities await the medical examiner\u2019s report.<\/p>\n
