At this point, it should come as no surprise that Roger Waters (former member of Pink Floyd, current member of the ever-expanding a-hole brigade) had no kind words for Ozzy Osbourne when the Prince of Fucking Darkness passed on this past summer.<\/p>\n

But you know who hasn\u2019t let Waters\u2019 dumbassery slide?\u00a0 Osbourne\u2019s family, that\u2019s who.\u00a0 This week, the Osbournes announced that a limited number of \u201cresponse\u201d T-shirts will be available online<\/a>.\u00a0 The design features an illustration of a brick wall (looking suspiciously like the cover of Pink Floyd\u2019s classic album) bearing the spray-painted graffiti \u201cOzzy Rules!\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not half bad, but consider the back of the shirt, which \u2013 in a tip of the, er, hat to that time when Ozzy sought relief at the Alamo \u2013 shows a metal fan whizzing on a copy of The Wall below the legend \u201cAnother Prick in the Wall.\u201d\u00a0 Did we mention that the stream of urine contains all the colors of the rainbow?\u00a0 As Triumph the Insult Comic Dog used to say, \u201cThat\u2019s how you do it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Like Alice Cooper before her, Cat Power ended up adopting her band\u2019s name as a nom de sc\u00e8ne (I\u2019m trying to stay classy and erudite this week). \u00a0Power will be touring next spring in celebration of the 20th anniversary of her album The Greatest, kicking things off with a stop at the White Oak Music Hall <\/a>on Thursday, February 12.\u00a0 Tickets are on sale now.<\/p>\n

Folks in Nashville have known for years that guitarist Daniel Donato is a playin\u2019 mofo, but those in the rest of the country have just picked up on his artistry within the past couple of years.\u00a0 Donato calls his music Cosmic Country, which translates as traditional country music mixed with the Grateful Dead, with some Stevie Ray Vaughan thrown in for good measure.\u00a0 Snag your tickets now for Donato\u2019s concert at the Heights Theater<\/a> on Wednesday, February 18.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s hard to go wrong with Earth, Wind & Fire.\u00a0 Sure, the R&B juggernaut hasn\u2019t released a new album in years, but who cares?\u00a0 EW&F has more than enough classic songs in its musical stash to assemble a tremendous set list.\u00a0 Tickets are on sale now for the band\u2019s concert at the Smart Financial Centre <\/a>on Tuesday, May 5.<\/p>\n

The proliferation of bills featuring multiple classic rock acts over the past several years proves the adage that politics money sometimes makes strange bedfellows.\u00a0 However, here\u2019s a tour that actually makes sense: the \u201cWindy Cities\u201d tour featuring Chicago and Styx.\u00a0 Both bands hail from the City with Big Shoulders and had hits on the charts at about the same time, so fair enough. \u00a0\u00a0Presales are up now for the tour\u2019s stop at the Cynthia Wood Mitchell Pavilion<\/a> on Thursday, August 20, with the general sale on Friday.<\/p>\n

Though on the ballot this past year, Mexican rockers Man\u00e1 failed to get into the rock and roll hall of fame.\u00a0 But, considering that the group has sold over 45 million records and stands as the most successful Latin American band ever, the members probably don\u2019t really \u2013 to quote my Houston Press colleague Pete Vonder Haar \u2013 give a fat frog\u2019s ass.\u00a0 Unperturbed, Man\u00e1 will be on the road next year, with a concert at Toyota Center<\/a> scheduled for Friday, November 6.\u00a0 Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n

Hayes Carll will bring his \u201cGrateful for Christmas\u201d show to the Heights Theater <\/a>for two nights this week, with performances on Thursday and Friday.\u00a0 When I first saw this billing, I thought for a moment that the concerts might feature Christmas carols performed in the style of the Grateful Dead.\u00a0 Imagine my disappointment when I found that I would not get to hear \u201cThe Carol of the Bells\u201d done a la \u201cDark Star.\u201d\u00a0 Having said that, Carll will no doubt provide his own brand of holiday cheer.\u00a0 For more on Hayes Carll and his most recent album, We\u2019re Only Human, take a look at Gladys Fuentes\u2019 interview<\/a> with the Houston singer-songwriter in the Houston Press this week.<\/p>\n

Houston favorite Mike Stinson is at the Continental Club<\/a> on Saturday performing songs from his latest album Working My Way Down.\u00a0 \u00a0A full-band show is promised, so the joint will be jumpin\u2019.\u00a0 And yet another Houston favorite, John Egan, will be opening.\u00a0 Those guys are everywhere this week!<\/p>\n

When Brandy and Monica declare \u201cThe Boy is Mine,\u201d you\u2019d better believe it.\u00a0 The \u201890s hitmakers have collaborated on several occasions, but their current tour represents the first time they are on the road as co-headliners.\u00a0 The concert will be segmented into several different parts, some of which feature each singer solo and others in which they are on stage together.\u00a0 All that plus an opening set from Kelly Rowland, formerly of Destiny\u2019s Child, currently a star in her own right! \u00a0Check it out on Sunday at Toyota Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n
