SAN ANTONIO \u2013 Packages flying in the sky with Amazon\u2019s new Prime Air drone service<\/a> are in full effect in San Antonio. <\/p>\n

Armandina Guzman-Gamez and her family were sitting in her backyard in Kirby on Sunday when she saw her neighbor receive a package from a drone.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt sounded like an airplane,\u201d Guzman-Gamez said. \u201cAnd sure enough, it started coming down, and it just dropped the package. We were like: That\u2019s awesome.\u201d <\/p>\n

Prime Air drones can deliver packages weighing up to five pounds within a seven to eight-mile radius of the facility where they are housed.<\/p>\n

Some neighbors are worried about the drones flying over their backyards when the order is not theirs. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn some ways it\u2019s great,\u201d Crystal Gonzalez said. \u201cIt uses less traffic (and) gas, but at the same time, it\u2019s kind of like an invasion of privacy because who is really piloting it?\u201d<\/p>\n

When KSAT\u2019s Madalynn Lambert asked a neighbor if they were worried a drone could cause an accident, Christy Flores said it depends.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt depends on the location,\u201d Flores said. \u201cSome houses might be too close together.\u201d <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, one incident did happen in Waco, Texas. <\/p>\n

While completing a delivery on Nov. 18 in Waco, an Amazon drone clipped a thin, overhead internet cable, according to Terrence Clark, a spokesperson for Amazon. <\/p>\n

The drone landed safely<\/a>, and no injuries were reported, Clark told KSAT 12. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve paid for the cable line\u2019s repair for the customer and have apologized for the inconvenience this caused them,\u201d Clark said. <\/p>\n

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed to KSAT 12 they are investigating the incident. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going into a new age where everything is through technology, robots and computers so you go to keep up with it,\u201d Gonzalez said. <\/p>\n

This type of delivery is available during daylight hours and favorable weather conditions, according to Amazon.<\/p>\n

For Amazon Prime members, drone delivery will cost an extra $4.99. Non-Amazon Prime members will need to pay $9.99 for the service.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmazon does a lot for their customers, you can tell,\u201d Guzman-Gamez said. \u201cThat\u2019s convenience right there.\u201d<\/p>\n
