After an Afghan national\u2014who entered the U.S. in 2021 following President Biden\u2019s disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal\u2014shot members of the National Guard in D.C., killing one, the entire \u201cOperation Allies Welcome\u201d program has come under heavy scrutiny.<\/p>\n
That program has led to massive migration of Afghans into the United States. While those migrants have primarily settled in blue states, multiple Texas counties also saw an influx of both cash and refugees due to the program.<\/p>\n
Brandon Waltens with Texas Scorecard reports that \u201cTexas saw tens of thousands of Afghan refugees being moved into the state, mainly in places like Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio\u201d\u2014Texas\u2019 three biggest and bluest metro areas.<\/p>\n
Waltens also warned that with the sheer numbers of supposed refugees Texas took in, it\u2019s almost guaranteed that some are here with ill intent. \u201cAny time you\u2019re letting people in using little to no vetting for anyone coming into the country, that is a security threat, and I think we\u2019re seeing that play out right now,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve already seen one terror plot in Texas thwarted, with 33-year-old Mohammad Dawood Alokozay arrested in Fort Worth after claiming he was building a bomb on social media.
