{"id":75706,"date":"2025-12-04T11:06:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T11:06:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/75706\/"},"modified":"2025-12-04T11:06:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T11:06:11","slug":"map-shows-texas-counties-where-snow-is-forecast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/75706\/","title":{"rendered":"Map Shows Texas Counties Where Snow is Forecast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Texas\u2019 Panhandle is set to see snowfall on Thursday, with forecasters calling for several inches in some areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Across affected areas the National Weather Service (NWS) has warned that wintry weather could lead to challenging conditions for drivers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">As of early Thursday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/winter-storm-warning-as-17-inches-of-snow-to-strike-extreme-caution-11146896\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">winter weather advisories<\/a>\u2014which the NWS issues when wintry conditions are \u201cexpected to cause a significant inconvenience, but not serious enough to warrant a warning\u201d\u2014span the Panhandle early on Thursday, where the agency says between 1 and 4 inches of snow are expected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The Amarillo office <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NWSAmarillo\/status\/1996406383789715546\" rel=\"nofollow\">said in a post on X<\/a>, Wednesday: \u201cAn update to the forecast for tonight. Snow amounts are ramping up in the northwest, and south of the Canadian River Valley. All the Panhandles now have a winter weather advisory for at least 1 inch of snow, but there are a few areas showing increased snow chances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The NWS <a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/wwamap\/wwatxtget.php?cwa=LUB&amp;wwa=winter%20weather%20advisory\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">is cautioning drivers<\/a> in the region to plan for slippery roads, and warns that the \u201chazardous conditions\u201d could hamper Thursday morning commutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Affected counties include:<\/p>\n<p>ArmstrongBaileyBriscoeCarsonCastroChildressCollingsworthDallamDeaf SmithDonleyGrayHaleHallHansfordHartleyHemphillHutchinsonLambLipscombMooreOchiltreeOldhamParmerPotterRandallRobertsShermanSwisherWheeler<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">These alerts are in force until noon CST as of reporting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The NWS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/ama\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said on Wednesday<\/a> it expects Thursday\u2019s high temperatures across the Texas Panhandle to be \u201cway below normal\u201d amid the expected snow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">\u201cBy the afternoon, clouds and snowfall will disperse and allow temperatures to finally rise above freezing,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The agency forecast highs of 36 degrees for Perryton and Wheeler, 37 for Gruver, and 38 for several cities including Beaver, Dalhart, Dumas, and Wellington. Coverage will expand southward overnight before diminishing late Thursday morning. Light accumulations are expected, with highest totals across the northwest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NWSLubbock\/status\/1996474239130423518\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Lubbock office said on Thursday<\/a>: \u201cWintery precipitation will push to our east by late morning, but cloudy skies will remain and will keep the region cool with highs struggling to reach into the 40s.
