Texas A&M<\/a> offensive coordinator Collin Klein will be the next head coach at his alma mater Kansas State, KSU athletics director Gene Taylor announced Thursday.<\/p>\n

Klein, who played for the Wildcats from 2009-2012, led the team to back-to-back 10-win seasons as a junior and senior, capping his career as a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2012.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are excited to welcome one of our all-time greats back home to Manhattan,\u201d Taylor said. \u201cCollin is a tremendous leader who cares deeply about his players. The grit, toughness and aggression he displayed as a player still fuels him today as a coach, and he is determined to carry on the tremendous success this program has achieved.”<\/p>\n

Kansas State announced that Klein agreed to a five-year contract with an average base salary of $4.3 million to coach the Wildcats. Additionally, the school announced that he will remain with Texas A&M \u2014 who look set to play in the College Football Playoff later this month \u2014 until the end of the Aggies\u2019 season.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old Klein, who served as K-State\u2019s offensive coordinator from 2022-23, will take over for former boss Chris Klieman<\/a> who had coached the Wildcats since 2019.<\/p>\n
