{"id":77372,"date":"2025-12-05T14:56:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T14:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/77372\/"},"modified":"2025-12-05T14:56:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T14:56:15","slug":"el-paso-isd-announces-winners-of-annual-holiday-card-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/77372\/","title":{"rendered":"El Paso ISD announces winners of annual holiday card contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">EL PASO, Texas (<a href=\"http:\/\/ktsm.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:KTSM;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">KTSM<\/a>) \u2014 El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) unveiled the winners of its 35th annual holiday card contest, a beloved tradition that showcases the creativity and imagination of student artists across the district, on Wednesday, Dec. 3.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The winners are as follows:<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">High school winner<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Graphic courtesy of EPISD\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"800\" height=\"629\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/da53be4bece84d2e71271d5a837f9187.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Graphic courtesy of EPISD<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">El Paso High School senior Rose Macias captured first place in the high school division with a holiday-themed piece rich in color, detail, and cultural expression, according to EPISD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI feel happy and excited that my work is going to be seen by a lot of people,\u201d Macias said. \u201cI spent a lot of time on it and I\u2019m proud of myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Her teacher, Elijah Escobar, praised both her talent and her unique style.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cShe is a very talented artist. She is into Chicano style, which is unique,\u201d Escobar said. \u201cI am not surprised that she won. This is a great EPISD tradition and gets us into that holiday season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Middle school winner<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Graphic courtesy of EPISD\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"800\" height=\"629\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/1e99bc3a9e91954389e79d376d4033a2.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Graphic courtesy of EPISD<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Dayana Echavarria from Navarrete Middle School earned first place in the middle school division with a piece praised for its refined technique and careful color blending.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cDayana is an amazing student. I noticed her talent right away,\u201d said her art teacher, Elizabeth Lerma. \u201cShe is very careful with detail and is great at blending the colors in her artwork. This was all her idea, and everything came out well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Lerma, who once competed in the EPISD contest as a student herself, said seeing her own student win was especially meaningful.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cOne year, I got second place, but I learned so much, and I\u2019ve always pushed my students to take part in the contest,\u201d Lerma said. \u201cIt\u2019s great to see my students succeed in something like this and I hope they cherish it like I did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Elementary school winner<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Graphic courtesy of EPISD\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"800\" height=\"640\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/4286bd14ded4c303d480af1670fee2f4.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Graphic courtesy of EPISD<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The elementary school winner, Orlando Quinonez III from Tinajero PK\u20138, impressed judges with a vibrant holiday design.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">His teacher, Claudia Galindo, said his enthusiasm and talent shined from the start.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI was super excited to find out Orlando won,\u201d Galindo said. \u201cI think events like this push our students to try and be the best they can be. Contests like this also reinforce our academics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">According to EPISD, close to 400 entries were submitted this year from campuses across the district, each reflecting the season through the lens of student imagination, culture, and community pride.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cEvery year, our Holiday Card Contest reminds us how powerful student creativity can be. These young artists bring joy, culture, and originality to their work, and it\u2019s an honor to see their designs represent the district.
