{"id":77393,"date":"2025-12-05T15:20:31","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T15:20:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/77393\/"},"modified":"2025-12-05T15:20:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T15:20:31","slug":"property-tax-bills-hit-el-paso-mailboxes-due-in-january","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/77393\/","title":{"rendered":"Property tax bills hit El Paso mailboxes, due in January"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">EL PASO, Texas (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ktsm.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:KTSM;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">KTSM<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u2014 Your property tax bill has likely already come in the mail, which includes a pair of constitutional amendments approved by voters last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Voters signed off on a constitutional amendment during the November election to raise the state\u2019s homestead exemption from $100,000 to $140,000 \u2014\u00a0shaving hundreds of dollars off of homeowner\u2019s property tax bill. Homeowners above the age of 65 or living with disabilities will see even bigger cuts after voters approved a separate amendment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Despite the tax breaks, most homeowners in El Paso \u2014 who pay one of the highest property tax rates in the state \u2014 will still pay more in property taxes in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In recent years, the state\u2019s Republican leadership has responded to taxpayer frustration by increasing homestead exemptions for school taxes \u2014 from $40,000 to $100,000 in 2023, and to $140,000 in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Property tax bills for 2025 will start going out Oct. 1, and must be paid by Jan. 31.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Richie Gill, a partner at the property tax consulting firm Gill, Denson &amp; Company, joined KTSM 9 News prime-time anchor Andy Morgan to discuss what you need to know about your property tax bill and how to make sure you are receiving tax relief.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">You can watch the full interview <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-L8amXMV5-o\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:here;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
