A fast-growing city with limited grocery options<\/a> has attracted a big national brand. <\/p>\n

Fate, nestled on the eastern side of Dallas-Fort Worth, is set for a retail shopping center that will be anchored by Kroger, according to a statement by Davidson Bogel Real Estate, a boutique land investment advisory group and brokerage firm. <\/p>\n

The roughly 70-acre site is located east of Lake Ray Hubbard.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an important addition for the municipality that is on the rise in North Texas. Fate is the eighth-fastest growing city in the country, based on a minimum size, according to the U.S. Census<\/a>. <\/p>\n

It reached more than 27,000 people last year, expanding by 11%. While that\u2019s a slower clip than Anna and Princeton, it\u2019s a quicker pace than Melissa.<\/p>\n

The new site is surrounded by single-family communities and will be part of the larger mixed-use development called Lafayette Crossing, the announcement said. Gulf Coast Commercial Group partnered to purchase the land and Nexus Real Estate Co., it said.<\/p>\n

Fate, whose grocery options now include Fresh by Brookshire\u2019s<\/a>, is roughly located between Rockwall and Royse City.<\/p>\n

Kroger has been investing in new sites around North Texas as it steps up efforts to compete with rivals such as H-E-B, Tom Thumb and Walmart. And while it\u2019s closed up some shops<\/a>, the grocer has been opening new stores in cities such as Melissa, Plano and Fort Worth. <\/p>\n

Kroger has over 200 stores in the state and more than 100 in North and East Texas.<\/p>\n
