SAN ANTONIO \u2013 Another call for change came outside Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans\u2019 Hospital on Monday, as dozens demanded accountability and better accessibility to mental health services. <\/p>\n
It comes after a second veteran died by suicide<\/a> outside the VA in eight months. U.S. Navy veteran Mark Miller<\/a> died in April, and last week, U.S. Marine Corps veteran Enrique Ramos Jr.<\/a> died. <\/p>\n \u201cThese gentlemen, these soldiers, these military veterans that have taken their lives, they\u2019re not just statistics,\u201d one woman said. \u201cThis is a call to action.\u201d <\/p>\n Larissa Martinez, the executive director and founder of Circle of Arms, organized the meeting on Monday. Back in April, she led a protest and vigil<\/a> in the days after Mark Miller\u2019s death. She said she was heartbroken to learn what happened to Ramos. <\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re tired,\u201d Martinez said. \u201cWe\u2019re tired of losing our brothers- and sisters-in-arms.\u201d<\/p>\n Dr. Larry Miller, Mark Miller\u2019s father, stood next to Martinez on Monday. He said Ramos\u2019 death opened old wounds. <\/p>\n \u201cTo hear what happened to Enrique just opened it all up again for me,\u201d he said. \u201cI cried and cried, and I said, \u2018This just can\u2019t continue.
