\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOver the last couple decades, Home Slice Pizza has evolved from a local mom-and-pop pizzeria into an iconic Austin landmark.<\/p>\n
What happened?<\/p>\n
In celebration of the company\u2019s 20th anniversary in November, the pizzeria hosted its Carnival ‘O Pizza at its South Congress location\u2014the first one since 2016, according to a news release. Judge Andy Brown kicked off the event by proclaiming the day as Home Slice Pizza Day.<\/p>\n
The upwards of $50,000 raised during the event, nearly four times as much as any of the company\u2019s previous carnivals according to Home Slice representatives, has been donated<\/a> to local nonprofit Foundation Communities<\/a> for holiday gifts and emergency rent assistance.<\/p>\n What\u2019s on the menu<\/p>\n Home Slice serves up classic New York-style pies and slices alongside calzones, subs and salads, with sodas, beer and wine available to pair with its Italian menu items.<\/p>\n Of note<\/p>\n Home Slice Pizza was first created by three Austinites with a passion for food and a vision for an Austin institution\u2014married couple Jen and Joseph Strickland and partner Terri Hannifin Buis, according to the company\u2019s website.<\/p>\n The dine-in side of Home Slice was opened in November 2005 and followed with More Home Slice, the takeout and slice operation across the parking lot in 2010.
