Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis marked the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations as \u201cforeign terrorist organizations\u201d in an executive order on Monday, just weeks after Texas\u2019s governor did the same.<\/a><\/p>\n

DeSantis shared the memo, complete with his stamp of approval on his X<\/a> account, which he said was \u201cEFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFlorida agencies are hereby directed to undertake all lawful measures to prevent unlawful activities by these organizations, including denying privileges or resources to anyone providing material support,\u201d DeSantis wrote.<\/p>\n

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis labeled the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR as \u201cforeign terrorist organizations\u201d in an executive order Monday, weeks after Texas did the same. AP<\/p>\n

In the executive order, DeSantis asserted, without proof, that the Muslim Brotherhood \u2014 a transnational Sunni Islamist group founded in Egypt with offshoots that have been linked to past violent attacks \u2014 was attempting to establish \u201ca world-wide Islamic caliphate\u201d and accused it of having direct links to Hamas.<\/p>\n

DeSantis also claimed that CAIR<\/a>, one of the largest Muslim civil rights groups in the US, was \u201cdesignated an unindicted co-conspirator\u201d as part of \u201cthe largest terrorism-financing case in American history.\u201d <\/p>\n

CAIR has repeatedly denied<\/a> having any financial links to Hamas or any other terrorist group.<\/p>\n

On Nov. 18, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott also labeled CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood<\/a> as foreign terrorist organizations.<\/p>\n

DeSantis\u2019 order echoes Abbott\u2019s almost verbatim, save for the Lone Star leader\u2019s brazen assertion that the Islamic organizations were seeking to impose Shariah law in America and \u201cestablish Islam\u2019s \u2018mastership of the world.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Abbott ordered the state attorney general to \u201csue to shut [the organizations] down\u201d in Texas.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe actions taken by the\u00a0Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR to\u00a0support terrorism\u00a0across the globe and subvert our laws through violence, intimidation, and harassment\u00a0are unacceptable. These radical extremists are not welcome in our state and\u00a0are now prohibited from acquiring any real property interest in Texas,\u201d Abbott wrote in his order.<\/p>\n

CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood are not listed as a terrorist group by the federal government. The Muslim Brotherhood has disavowed any violence linked to it, and today it helps fund and provide hospitals and schools in the Arab world, according to the Council on Foreign Relations.<\/p>\n

In a statement<\/a>, CAIR wrote that it looks forward to \u201cdefeating Governor DeSantis\u2019 latest Israel First stunt in a court of law, where facts matter and conspiracy theories have no weight.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cLike Greg Abbott in Texas, Ron DeSantis is an Israel First politician who wants to smear and silence Americans, especially American Muslims, critical of U.S. support for Israel\u2019s war crimes,\u201d CAIR added.<\/p>\n

CAIR previously slammed Abbott\u2019s declaration as \u201cdefamatory and lawless\u201d and assured it would \u201cnot be intimidated by smear campaigns.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Florida Gov.
