We will be humid and warm with afternoon highs in the upper-80s and lower-90s. We will be tracking a 30% chance for showers and storms. Although the chance is low, we will take any rain we can get! <\/p>\n<p>Friday AfternoonWeekend Rain Chance:<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The main window for showers and possible thunderstorms is expected to open Saturday afternoon into Saturday night as the front moves closer to Houston. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">While the majority of the front\u2019s activity is forecast to remain north of the city, scattered showers and light thunderstorms could make outdoor plans a bit damp, especially for Saturday night events.<\/p>\n<p>Weekend cold front (Copyright 2025 by KPRC Click2Houston &#8211; All rights reserved.)Elevated Fire Risk<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">We continue to monitor fire dangers across SE Texas. Burn bans are increasing across the area with only a few counties holding out. <\/p>\n<p>Burn Bans<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Dry, warm weather is expected to persist through most of this week with another period of elevated fire risk anticipated. Even when we start to see a little more humidity by the end of the week, we\u2019re running well below normal for rainfall so far this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid spark-causing activities, as fires can flare up fast.<\/p>\n<p>Never leave a fire burning unattended or without purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Secure tow chains to prevent dragging and sparking.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t drive or park over tall grass.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid tossing lit cigarettes onto the ground.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 kNAFkD cuqaEv article-text\">We will likely see more counties added to the list through the next few weeks, especially if we stay in this hot and dry pattern, which appears that we will. <\/p>\n<p>Tracking the tropics: <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Tropical Storm Lorenzo is churning out at sea with sustained winds of 60 mph, but it\u2019s expected to stay in the central Atlantic before weakening into the weekend. <\/p>\n<p>Tropical hot spot zone for Oct. 22nd through 28th (Copyright 2025 by KPRC Click2Houston &#8211; All rights reserved.)Your extended forecast: <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Afternoons will still stay warm and we\u2019ll see more humidity by the end of the week as a front will brings showers and thunderstorms Friday and Saturday.
