Outreach to Employment Programme sees Atlantic Aviation Group welcome Corpus Christi Primary School pupils for airport facility visit<\/p>\n

Atlantic Aviation Group<\/a> (AAG), based at Shannon Airport, welcomed third-class pupils from Corpus Christi Primary School<\/a>, Moyross, for an educational visit.<\/p>\n

This was in conjunction with Limerick City & County Council\u2019s Outreach to Employment Programme. The Junior Careers Fair is giving primary school children an engaging insight into different industries that are available in the Mid-West.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, excited pupils jumped at the opportunity to explore AAG\u2019s facilities and experience a live aircraft maintenance environment.<\/p>\n

The initiative builds on AAG\u2019s recent participation in several career events across the Mid-West region, reflecting the company\u2019s ongoing commitment to education and career-pathway outreach.<\/p>\n

A major employer in the region, Atlantic Aviation Group provides maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, along with a range of aviation solutions for airlines and leasing companies. Its community outreach efforts form part of a broader strategy to encourage young people to consider future opportunities in aviation and engineering.<\/p>\n

During the visit, students experienced first-hand the workings of a busy aircraft maintenance environment and heard from professionals working in the field. The Regeneration Department, who assisted in organising the event, hope the experience will spark an interest in aviation related careers among the Moyross pupils.<\/p>\n

This educational trip was rounded off by a wonderful visit to the Shannon Aviation Museum. Here they explored historic aircraft and interactive displays that showcased the evolution of aviation. \u00a0This added another dimension to the trip, deepening their appreciation for the history, engineering and innovation behind modern flight.<\/p>\n

The success of the visit was made possible thanks to outstanding community support. \u00a0Kelly Travel generously provided transport for the pupils, while the Shannon Aviation Museum kindly sponsored the museum visit. \u00a0 Their contributions along with the kind invitation from Atlantic Aviation Group, created an impactful and memorable learning experience, that would not have been possible without this collaborative community effort.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were delighted to welcome the students from Corpus Christi Primary School to our facility,\u201d said Mike Roche, Operations Performance & Development Manager at AAG.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe enjoyed showing them around, answering their questions and giving them an insight into what we do. Their curiosity and enthusiasm were evident, and we hope to see some of them again in the future as potential Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, praised the work of the Outreach to Employment programme, saying, \u201cThe Outreach to Employment Programme is giving students hands-on experiences with leading employers such as Atlantic Aviation Group. This is helping to spark ambition and show that exciting career opportunities exist right here in the Mid-West.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cathaoirleach of the Metropolitan District, Cllr Catherine Slattery added, \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to see the pupils from Corpus Christi Primary School in Moyross getting this unique opportunity to visit Atlantic Aviation Group. Initiatives like this show our commitment to creating pathways for every child, regardless of background, to explore exciting careers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Director of Services for Regeneration, Community, Sport & Rural Development, Brian McCarthy explained, \u201cOne of the core objectives of Limerick City and County Council\u2019s Regeneration and Community Development programme is to ensure that communities and young people across all of Limerick can clearly see, access and aspire to the same real pathways to employment as anywhere else. <\/p>\n
