CORPUS CHRISTI, TX \u2013 At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, the Council awarded a $2.1 million contract to A. Ortiz Construction & Paving, Inc., for the comprehensive reconstruction of East Surfside Boulevard. This project spans from Breakwater Avenue to Elm Street.<\/p>\n
The contract includes a wide range of upgrades and enhancements, designed to improve not only the functionality but also the accessibility and safety of the roadway. <\/p>\n
Key elements of the project include:<\/p>\n
Utility and Drainage Improvements: These updates will address existing infrastructure needs, reducing the risk of area flooding and ensuring reliable utility service.
\nNew Hot Mix Asphalt Concrete (HMAC) Pavement: This will provide a durable and smooth surface for vehicles, enhancing driving conditions.
\nConcrete Sidewalks, Curbs, and Gutters: These improvements aim to facilitate pedestrian movement and drainage control.
\nADA-Compliant Curb Ramps: Ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities.
\nEnhanced Traffic Mobility: The traffic flow will change from one-way to two-way between Breakwater Avenue and Coastal Avenue, improving mobility and reducing congestion.
\nUpgraded Street Illumination: To ensure safety and visibility for both drivers and pedestrians at night.<\/p>\n
The project is funded through FY 2026 allocations from the Street Bond 2022, along with contributions from Storm Water, Water, Wastewater, and Gas Funds. <\/p>\n
