However, Pirtle scheduled a hearing to consider the matter on December 19 at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Corley filed the request Monday \u2013 the same day County Judge Curtis Parrish removed him from office. Parrish issued a statement saying Corley automatically resigned from Precinct 2 when he became a \u201ccandidate-in-fact\u201d for the congressional seat of outgoing Representative Jodey Arrington. Parrish then swore in Meurer just minutes before Monday\u2019s County Commissioner meeting to <a href=\"https:\/\/lubbocklights.com\/judge-hatch-will-decide-corleys-future-on-commissioners-court-other-commissioners-stunned-he-was-replaced\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the shock of other commissioners.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pirtle \u2013 a member of the state\u2019s 7th Court of Appeals based in Amarillo \u2013 took over when State District Judge Les Hatch removed himself from the case. Corley\u2019s request included a temporary restraining order immediately followed later by a permanent restraining order.<\/p>\n<p>The judge said no.<\/p>\n<p>Pirtle\u2019s ruling said, \u201cThe Court finds that exigent circumstances do not exist for the issuance of a temporary restraining order, without notice and hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So the matter is not settled. Meurer gets a chance to respond and then Pirtle will make a ruling. But Pirtle agreed there is urgency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Court further finds that Corley\u2019s request for an expeditious hearing on his application for temporary injunction is warranted and should be granted,\u201d the order said.<\/p>\n<p>This is a breaking news story.
