LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – There was an uptick in Lubbock business activity in October compared to a year earlier. The latest sales tax revenue report from Texas Acting Comptroller Kelly Hancock shows 9.21 percent more sales tax revenue than in October 2024.<\/p>\n

The report released Wednesday is for revenue being distributed to cities in December, based on sales made in October by businesses that report tax monthly.<\/p>\n

Lubbock\u2019s December sales tax revenue $9,443,527.29, up 9.21 percent compared to the payment received in December 2024.<\/p>\n

Statewide, local sales tax allocations this month are 7.5 percent higher than a year, totaling around $1.2 billion being sent to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts.<\/p>\n

During budget work sessions this summer, Lubbock\u2019s city manager, city staff and the city council discussed a slowdown<\/a> in sales tax revenue over the prior several months. But this trend has recently reversed.<\/p>\n

Year-to-date, the comptroller\u2019s report shows Lubbock has received $110,007,144.27, 3.15 percent more than year-to-date through this point in the year in 2024.<\/p>\n
