Here are the Tarrant County candidates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The filing period for Texas\u2019 2026 primary election closed with a series of last-minute filings that shook up top Tarrant County races.<\/p>\n<p>Moments before the filing deadline Monday, Fort Worth Congressman Marc Veasey <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/12\/08\/fort-worth-congressman-marc-veasey-announces-campaign-for-tarrant-county-judge\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">filed to run for Tarrant County Judge<\/a>, seeking to challenge Republican incumbent Tim O\u2019Hare.<\/p>\n<p>Veasey\u2019s decision tees up a high-profile Democratic primary as he faces Commissioner Alisa Simmons, <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/12\/06\/tarrant-county-commissioner-alisa-simmons-to-face-off-against-county-judge-tim-ohare\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">who filed to run for the seat <\/a>after her Republican colleagues adopted a new county precinct map earlier this year that makes it harder for her to win reelection in her district.<\/p>\n<p>For Tarrant voters, March\u2019s ballot includes the county judge race as well as two county commissioners; multiple seats in the Texas House; two Texas Senate positions; the Republican and Democratic parties\u2019 county chairs; county and district clerks; justices of the peace and various judges.<\/p>\n<p>Primary elections determine Democratic and Republican nominees for voters to choose between in the general election in November. The primary election is March 3, and the deadline to register to vote is Feb. 2. Voters may check their registration status <a href=\"https:\/\/goelect.txelections.civixapps.com\/ivis-mvp-ui\/#\/login\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The filing period to claim a place on the primary ballot closed Dec. 8. Incumbent candidates won\u2019t face challengers of the opposite party until November 2026. Filing for the May election, which includes municipal offices, opens in January.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the candidates for Tarrant County-area races.<\/p>\n<p>Tarrant County Judge<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electtimohare.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">O\u2019Hare<\/a> is seeking his second term in the countywide position and will face Republican precinct chair <a href=\"https:\/\/www.buker-4-tarrant-county-judge.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Robert Buker<\/a> in the March primary. Veasey and <a href=\"https:\/\/votealisasimmons.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Simmons<\/a>, as well as Millennium Anton C. Woods, will face off in the primary for the Democratic nomination.<\/p>\n<p>Business owner Lydia Bean was campaigning for judge but dropped out Monday after Veasey entered the race. She is now running for county clerk, a position that serves as the county\u2019s official records keeper.<\/p>\n<p>Tarrant County Commissioner, Precinct 2<\/p>\n<p>The seat left vacant by Simmons has three Democrats vying for the primary nomination: Amanda Arizola, co-founder of the nonprofit CoACT North Texas; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drjaredwilliams.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jared Williams<\/a>, a former Fort Worth City Council member; and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gaberivasfortarrant.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gabe Rivas<\/a>, Simmons\u2019 former staffer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tonytinderholt.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tony Tinderholt<\/a>, a former Texas House member representing the Arlington area, and Lucila Seri, a Tarrant County precinct chair, are seeking the Republican nomination for the seat that represents the southwestern and southeastern parts of the county.<\/p>\n<p>Tarrant County Commissioner, Precinct 4<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/mannyramirez.org\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Manny Ramirez<\/a> is seeking his second term representing the northwest part of the county. Three Democrats \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/perlafortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Perla Bojorquez<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/vote4nydia\/?hl=en\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nydia Cardenas<\/a> and Cedric Kanyinda \u2014 and Republican Ryan Watkins are seeking the seat.<\/p>\n<p>Tarrant County Republican Party chair<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/bofrench.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bo French<\/a> did not seek reelection. He announced he is campaigning to be a Texas railroad commissioner, the agency that oversees the state\u2019s oil and gas industry. Tim Davis was <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/11\/22\/attorney-at-center-of-keller-isd-split-tapped-to-lead-tarrant-county-gop-as-chair\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">elected to serve as chair<\/a> during a special election Nov. 22.<\/p>\n<p>Tarrant County Democratic Party chair<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/campolofortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Allison Campolo<\/a> is seeking reelection after a special election named her chair <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/07\/08\/allison-campolo-returns-as-tarrant-county-democratic-party-chair\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">earlier this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Criminal District Attorney<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.philsorrells.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Phil Sorrells<\/a> is seeking reelection. He is facing one challenger: Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiffanyburksforda.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tiffany Burks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>District Clerk<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.districtclerktomwilder.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tom Wilder<\/a> is seeking reelection after serving in the role for three decades. Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/nathan4tarrant.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nathan Smith<\/a> is also running.<\/p>\n<p>County Clerk<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marylouise.info\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mary Louise Nicholson<\/a> is seeking reelection. Bean, who dropped out of the county judge race, will face Gregorie C. Lewis in the Democratic primary.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 90<\/p>\n<p>Democratic incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ramonromerojr.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ramon Romero Jr.<\/a> is seeking reelection to the Fort Worth seat he has held since 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 91<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidlowefortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">David Lowe<\/a> is seeking his second term representing North Richland Hills, Watauga, Haltom City and part of north Fort Worth. Challenging him in the GOP primary is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.morris4texas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kyle Morris<\/a>. Democrat Yisak Worku is also seeking the seat.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 92<\/p>\n<p>Democratic incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bhojanifortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Salman Bhojani<\/a> is seeking his third term representing parts of the cities of Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Grand Prairie, Arlington and Fort Worth. Republican Joseph Robinson is also running.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 93<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent Nate Schatzline is not seeking reelection after being appointed to President Donald Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/10\/27\/mercy-culture-pastor-texas-rep-nate-schatzline-joining-trumps-national-faith-board\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">National Faith Advisory Board<\/a>. Two Republicans are seeking the seat to represent parts of north Fort Worth, Saginaw and Haslet: Fort Worth City Council member <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alanblaylock.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Alan Blaylock<\/a> and Northwest ISD trustee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/stevefor93\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Steve Sprowls<\/a>. Democrat Ericka Lomick is also running.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 94<\/p>\n<p>Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cherylbeanfortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Cheryl Bean<\/a>, Michael Daughenbaugh, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mikeingraham.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Mike Ingraham<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.schlegelfortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jackie Schlegel<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/valliantforhd94.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Susan Valliant<\/a>, as well as Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katiefor94.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Katie O\u2019Brien Duzan<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/rojofortejas\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Rogelio Meixueiro<\/a>, are seeking the House seat that Tinderholt previously held, which represents parts of Fort Worth, Arlington, Hurst, Bedford, Pantego and Dalworthington Gardens.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 95<\/p>\n<p>Democratic incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasrepcollier.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nicole Collier<\/a> is seeking reelection to the seat representing part of Fort Worth, Forest Hill and Everman.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 96<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davidcookfortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">David Cook<\/a> is seeking election to Senate District 22 instead of reelection to the Texas House. Republican <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ellen4texas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ellen Fleischmann<\/a> and Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ebforhd96.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ebony Turner<\/a> are seeking the seat representing parts of Mansfield, Arlington, Kennedale and Fort Worth.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 97<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/mcqueeneyfortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">John McQueeney<\/a> is seeking reelection to the seat representing parts of Fort Worth, Benbrook, Crowley and White Settlement. Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/beth4tx97\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Beth Llewellyn McLaughlin<\/a>, Ryan Ray and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/dianesymonsfortexashouserepresentative\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Diane Symons<\/a> will face off in the primary.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 98<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent Giovanni Capriglione is not seeking reelection after 13 years representing Keller, Grapevine, Euless and Colleyville. Seeking the GOP nomination are Keller Mayor <a href=\"https:\/\/arminfortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Armin Mizani<\/a>, businessman <a href=\"https:\/\/tate4texas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fred Tate<\/a>, and small business owner <a href=\"https:\/\/zeeforhd98.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Zdenka Wilcox<\/a>. Cate Brennan and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaronhendleyforus.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Aaron Hendley<\/a> are seeking the Democratic nomination.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 99<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.charliegeren.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Charlie Geren<\/a> is seeking reelection to the seat representing part of Fort Worth, Azle, Benbrook and Westworth Village. Democrat Michelle Winder is also seeking the seat.<\/p>\n<p>Texas House District 101<\/p>\n<p>Democratic incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/votechristurner.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Chris Turner<\/a> is seeking reelection to the seat representing parts of Arlington and Grand Prairie. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.votejuniorezeonu.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Junior Ezeonu<\/a>, a Grand Prairie City Council member, is challenging him in the Democratic primary.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Senate District 9<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent Kelly Hancock resigned \u2014 representing parts of Fort Worth, Haltom City, Watauga, North Richland Hills, Saginaw, Haslet, Southlake and Keller \u2014 earlier this year to serve as acting state comptroller. Two candidates, Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.taylorfortx.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Taylor Rehmet<\/a> and Republican <a href=\"https:\/\/leighfortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Leigh Wambsganss<\/a>, are <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/11\/17\/texas-senate-runoff-in-tarrant-county-set-for-jan-31\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">heading to a runoff election<\/a> to serve the remainder of his term, which ends in 2027. Whoever wins the runoff must immediately campaign for reelection in the general election next year.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Senate District 23<\/p>\n<p>Democratic incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/roycewest.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Royce West<\/a> is seeking reelection to the seat that primarily represents parts of Dallas County but also includes parts of Grand Prairie and Arlington.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. House District 12<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/craiggoldman.house.gov\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Craig Goldman<\/a> is seeking reelection to the congressional seat representing Fort Worth. Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/kennethforcongress2026.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kenneth M<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/kennethforcongress2026.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">o<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/kennethforcongress2026.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">rgan-Aguilera<\/a> is also seeking the seat.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. House District 24<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/bethfortexas.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Beth Van Duyne<\/a> is seeking reelection to the seat representing parts of Euless, Colleyville, Keller, Southlake, Coppell and Watauga. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.burgeforcongress.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kevin Burge<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/electtj.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TJ Ware<\/a> are seeking the Democratic nomination for the seat.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. House District 25<\/p>\n<p>Republican incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rogerforcongress.com\/\" class=\"Link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Roger Williams<\/a> is seeking reelection to the seat that includes a small portion of south Fort Worth and Crowley.
