LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Sweetwater middle schooler said she had the \u201cbest day of her life\u201d Wednesday after high school students from Bushland surprised her with a party at Chuck E. Cheese in Lubbock.<\/p>\n
Cari Truelock, 13, who has learning disabilities and has been bullied for several years, was chosen as a recipient of the \u201cBe a Friend Project,\u201d a national initiative that sends \u201cfriend mail\u201d to a different child experiencing bullying each month.<\/p>\n
The Bushland Difference Makers<\/a>, a high school community service class, has taken part in the national initiative for years. With help from their teacher, Michelle Lancaster, they painted signs and organized the surprise party. When Truelock arrived, she was greeted with cheers and screams from the students.<\/p>\n \u201cJust knowing that she was going to be surprised, I could have never imagined the magnitude. Like, it\u2019s just been a little bit overwhelming,\u201d Cari\u2019s mom, Michelle Truelock, said. \u201cI have no words.\u201d<\/p>\n Along with the party, Truelock received letters from people around the world offering hope and encouragement. She also received a special video message from Iain Armitage, the actor who played \u201cYoung Sheldon.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou are so cool, so amazing,\u201d Armitage said in the video.<\/p>\n When asked how she felt about the surprise, Truelock said she was \u201chappy, happy happy\u201d and felt \u201cloved\u201d and \u201cspecial.\u201d<\/p>\n
